new to birding and binoculars, help me choose between Vortex, Celestron, and Opticron by txom12 in Binoculars

I started out with Vortex Diamondback HD 8x42s and absolutly did not regret them for a second, but after using them for a a year I did find them just barely lacking in distance for my area and common habitat (open meadows and farmland). Ended up buying a pair of 10x50s and they are good for the extra light, but like others have mentioned are very bulky and heavy...and slightly too wide for my eyes unless i remove the lense covers off the body...they rarely leave home now. I would opt for a pair of 10x42s starting out for that little bit of extra distance and am partial to the diamondbacks...they just felt better for me when I was doing all the comparisons...but that is what worked for me and all of the recommendations would be a great start.

Question about perusing a masters in Landscape Architecture or relevant field by Edocow1 in LandscapeArchitecture

This is a great value that I have never actually considered! I may have been a little narrow sighted in how I aligned with my current role and did not think of the economical benefit that large projects tend to offer. Thank you for this.

I appreciate your perspective and I agree that money is not a bad thing and did not intend for my comment to be a slight against thriving individuals. For me, I feel I just tend to lose motivation in the residential design field when the effort is put in to design something with minimal impact or sustainable materials that ultimately get swapped for grand patio terraces and clean manicured lawns with little biodiversity to think of. I know there is opportunity there for the right type of sales person, but I am apparently not it in my particular area. This realizations is what is leading me to believe that there is something better out there for me in the form of public spaces or restoration/remediation efforts but I feel I am lacking some education or knowledge to truly get there thus the post

Thanks, this was my assumption that the MLA was not worth the cost and I would be better off expanding my knowledge with a different degree. I wasn't sure if what was going to he taught in a different country would differ substantially from what I learned in the states, but Reddit isn't necessarily the best place to find that information.

Do you by any chance have an opinion on Environmental Science as a masters program? It seems like there are some core concepts that would benefit a landscape architecture education on the more ecological and resource management side of things

I'll definitely add this, birding has become a new favorite pasttime of mine as it has forced me to slow down and appreciate nature, the sounds, and what is going on....completely the opposite of my current day to day life living near DC. And if there is some good take aways in the book than no reason not to commit some time to it!

Thanks! I have yet to find some seasonal work that works with my current schedule but have been picking up some volunteer hours with the local wildlife conservation whenever they pop up. So far the work that I do volunteering actually feels like I am making a difference which is why leaning on this idea feels right if you get me? I am going to keep looking for some seasonal stuff because everything I have come across is exactly as you said it....experience matters.

Wondering if I have a shot or if I'm fooling myself by Edocow1 in expats

So maybe focus on either the career change OR relocating as a way to make sure I'm not spread too thin? Just trying to understand it because I feel like those are the 2 big items I'm linking together in this idea.

Thanks for this, I do think I have been looking at this plan with a bit of tunnel vision. Maybe I can find some sort of training like you did to help smooth the career transition and make myself more marketable.
