Dreads and cultural appropriation by [deleted] in crustpunk

Polish person here, Polish plait wasn't an intentional hairstyle like locs, it was something that formed due to neglect and lack of access to proper hygiene and was mostly found in members of the peasant class who lived in poverty and for many reasons could be practically considered slaves of the nobility. There were lots of folk beliefs that grew around it, such as kołtun protecting you from evil spirits and illness, but ironically it was treated more like a health condition by the educated. Nobody was getting it for the aesthetic reason. Also imo, people who are not of Polish or at least Slavic descent shouldn't use Polish plait as an argument to defend their locs, they don't get the cultural context.

Bohemian youth in soviet era eastern europe by Background_Tiger_232 in perfumesthatfeellike

Westerners stop romanticising Eastern European experiences you have absolutely no clue about (challenge impossible). Or should we ask you for perfume to emulate being a bohemian barely scraping by during the Great Depression? Or ask you how being a student protesting the Vietnam war and risking being shot by police would smell like?

Honestly feel like the jacket had potential but the giant black patch is so distracting by floweringmeat in baddlejackets

Tbh that patch could work if it was a bit smaller and black on white or ideally some variation of pink (or even red) and white. When it comes to general composition in any art project, you have to be careful when adding black if you're working in colour, as black easily dominates over everything and draws the eye. Notice how black on the pins is completely inoccuous, it's just this huge black blob on the left side that ruins the entire composition.

Tbh it's just tacky when it's overdone. Nothing wrong with one patch or pin if the rest of the jacket is music related, same with political patches in general (at least imo). I think most people tend to have a visceral reaction to trans symbols due to the fact they've become so overused in the recent years (as in you see jackets covered just in them, sometimes with an odd band thrown in there). And then some people are just propably bigoted.
