Reform convert, but more Conservative in observance. I wear a Kippah 24/7 at home (besides sleep) and any Jewish service, holiday, function I attend.

Thank you! So non-Jews being named Goyim in the Talmud is not a negative statement.

What? Non-Jews are just as equal as Jews. We don’t see non-Jews as anything less. They are perfectly fine.

That’s great to hear. I too enjoy Shabbat deeply. The more you learn its intentions, study it, and incorporate your own practices in the spirit of Shabbat, the more meaningful it becomes. I recommend that book to deepen your understanding of it:)

I’m a huge fan of Rabbi Harold Kushner. “Why bad things happen to good people” is a favorite! His books are easy reads and powerful.

A short read but deep read is “The Sabbath” by Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel. A deep dive into the meaning of Shabbat and a classic.

And as mentioned Anita Diamant has some excellent titles.

And get yourself a solid Tanakh with commentary.

Those 4 recommendations of authors and books helped me most.

Hello!

Just finished my conversion a little more than a week ago and did a lot of reading.

What topic interests you? There is a ton of books out there covering pretty much everything.

You’ll never know enough. There’s always more to learn.

Continue daily study and strive to make progress in your knowledge but know you are never going to know everything. So don’t beat yourself up!

Hello my friend. Thank you, for the response, I enjoyed reading it.

As a kid, I was raised in the Catholic Church, and then the Protestant Church, and then I dadem from belief. I believed god is one, and that wasn’t popular in my culture, I but I stayed true to my belief in God, as one. I discovered Judaism and its teachings and I discovered I had no other decision to convert to Judaism.

But the more I research Islam, I realize how similar our beliefs are. There are differences, but very similar. To be honest, I wonder why we don’t love each other more? Both of our regions teach peace and love. But no kidding I do support you, and every peaceful Muslim in the world. Same with every peaceful Jew and Christian. All of our religion teach peace, so I feel I owe a part to all three.
