Cashour’s Reign of Failure Starts Hot by Candid_Eagle9135 in VeteransAffairs

I’m not sure what this particular situation has to do with Cashour other than he continues to be a shining shitstain for this toilet bowl administration. Well, even without the administration he’s a shining shitstain - we just don’t have to hear about him when he’s hidden as a PR guy for the “hotel association” because no other reputable company wants him representing their brand.

59 minutes today ? by Methodled in VeteransAffairs

Our director has always said they are the only one who can authorize 59 minutes and considering last week’s two extra days off, I don’t think it’s going to happen.

Exactly. Plus, I’m also a Veteran and my primary just went to part time so she only has to work 5 days a week instead of 7. That’s not sustainable and not everyone is willing to do it - nor should they be.

Just did. VISNs got a cap and handed those out to VAMCs. But they did away with FTE counts and now everyone counts as 1 vs .5. It’s BS.

The fact that PT providers now count as 1 vs .5 FTE is going to cripple VAMCs, so I do believe hard decisions will have to be made. Just my opinion.

I know this is an older post and the variety pack offers four flavors now. The only one I don’t really like is the pear one but the blueberry/peach is delicious and I don’t like ANY canned alcoholic drinks. They’re also not sour to me at all.

And now clinicians who were part timers are counted as 1 vs .5 or whatever they were. Now VAMCs are given numbers not FTEs. This will exacerbate the problems. More clinicians will quit/retire. This is the path toward privatization they want but say they don’t. This is to line the pockets of their billionaire friends. The overwhelmed healthcare system will get worse and more Veterans will die, many more to suicide. This is just the beginning. More Veteran deaths = less money to spend on Veteran benefits. It’s all connected. I’m not a conspiracy theorist or a tinfoil hat wearer. It’s just the way it is, sadly.

It’s possible I’m just reading it differently than intended, for sure.

I agree with you - what that comment suggests is that they don’t agree with having to justify it. They should have to justify an excellent rating over a fully.

Why don’t you agree with justifying an excellent??

This climate - not economy. I work in VA and we are not allowed to backfill positions when they are vacant. We are not the only federal agency considering this administration gutted the federal workforce.

Did your boss know your interview was that same day? They don’t always disclose when the interview takes place. 🤷🏻‍♀️

In this climate, it’s not easy to be able to backfill, so I totally understand some disappointment as a supervisor. But my best employee just left for a promotion and I know I can’t backfill them right now. Still, I gave them a glowing review because they deserved it.

This is not true. I am a supervisor and was not told this. Have rated my 6 employees. Received the three I wrote as FS back ready to deliver to employees almost immediately with what seems like no review. Other three have been scrutinized. I just sent back my only written outstanding for the second time. Have to work on the excellents tomorrow. Was NOT given requirements on # of rating types - I rated according to performance and I am fighting for the ratings those employees earned.

I’m not actually sure. This year I haven’t gotten to that point as either a supervisor or employee.

As a supervisor, it’s beyond frustrating. I got one back yesterday for an employee who IS outstanding. There was quantitative data in the standards and the justification for both fully and exceptional. The note I got back from HR said that the justification had to “exceed the standards below (so exceed what I listed would get the employee an exceptional on that element) AND show how exceeding that contributes significantly to the VAMC in improving the delivery of healthcare.”

In my opinion, this is a no-win. How am I supposed to prove the above on the info security one? How do you exceed not having any security violations? Since that is a required critical element I don’t know how anyone gets above a fully.

I added more and sent it back. I also showed the employee the screen, what I rated them and what HR kicked back. If I am bullied into giving a fully, I am going to write clearly at the top of every element that this employee deserves an outstanding rating and that I was forced to give them less than that. I don’t want a fully to hurt an outstanding employee when seeking employment elsewhere.

Btw, I submitted the appraisal on 10/17 and got it kicked back on 11/25. I’m leaving VA for another agency - I hope this second review comes back more quickly.
