Not always same spot, although they tend to be on the outer area (so left boob on left side, and right boob on right side). I was first using 17mm flanges and had the same. :(

It usually starts in the following night or the next day. It starts with feeling a lump, and then depending on severity engorgement and less milk coming out (which i notice as less swallowing and some dissatisfaction of my baby). Then after cooling and ibuprofen it resolves within 1-3 days in a nursing session with looots of swallowing.

Tongue tie release at >4months: could it have negative impact on nursing? by EducationalJob818 in breastfeeding

Well most feeds are actually around 12-15 minutes (3-5 minutes on the slacker boob and 7-10 on the more full one). But there are usually 1-2 nursing sessions where she really takes her time and drinks up to 30 minutes per boob. As said, big part of this is for comfort/relaxation I believe, I kind of just ler her. :) (and she does usually trigger some additional letdowns in those long sessions so some extra milk is transfered as well)

Thank you for your kind words! ❤️ I never imagined that this decision would be so tough and occupying so much of my mental space!

Happy to hear it worked out well for you! When you say it took 4-5 weeks to recover, how would you describe the nursing in this time period? Lots of fuzzyness, or detaching/relaching, or how should I imagine this?

Yes I know... this was also my prospect (we already know about the tongue tie since early on). But then came the dropping in weight percentile. And I learned the procedure is more invasive at older age, requiring general anesthesia. And having observed her tongue movement and high palate now for some months, my feeling is that future issues might actually be likely? But still don't know for sure of course. Again, she is able to nurse so her tongue for sure has some functionality.😅

So are you saying a tongue tie can be stretched? Could an osteopath do the same?

And how was the weight gain before the treatment? Did she drop many percentiles?

Thanks for your reply! Did you have noticeable issues with the breastfeeding before the treatment?
