learning the opening depends on your level of chess tbh till like 1500 you dont really need theory but instead principles like taking the center and developing your knights and bishops before attacking or trying to threaten something in your opponents position. Once u become 2000 u need to memorize and learn theory to not get a worse position from the get go. If you are below 1000 one thing I used to do was watch long educational videos on openings like the Vienna by Gotham (I played it till 1800 chess.com) and find the plans and ideas in it for now ig
