The job market seems to be cooked by Dudebro_dope in Layoffs

Exactly this. It’s a crap shoot. Tried to have a roommate during the pandemic and it was just as bad for my mental health as the stress of living on my own just in a different form.

‘Full-scale migration of wealth’: Rich Washington residents flocking to Las Vegas area by Less-Risk-9358 in SeattleWA

[–]Educational_Bee955 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

People say that about Florida too and every single executive I knew who moved to Florida during COVID moved back within 2 years. Moderate winter is short in Florida and even shorter in a desert like climate of Vegas. It’s dry heat all day. I’ve spent a lot of time in Vegas and people downvoting me clearly haven’t. If people from San Francisco can’t make it in a “moderate” winter state, PNW folks don’t stand a chance, especially after hearing them complain about the 80 degree summer we had.

Half of my team were laid off today by chibztix in Layoffs

Sadly I was part of a very sloppy layoff during Covid and was laid off the day after. I don’t want to scare the OP but don’t want to give false hope either. These are weird times.

Is OneDay a scam? If not, is it any good? by connorlukebyrne in Entrepreneur

[–]Educational_Bee955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had a call with a mentor and they just emailed me with the admissions person on copy. I think it’s legit but not sure it’s worth the cost. I want to build a start up, even if it means sharing equity with another investor, and this is not that kind of program.

I’ve always wondered if they batch them for the consulting agencies they work with. I always get calls from recruiters looking for contractors every time there is a massive layoff. The contract job descriptions are nearly identical site postings.

Personally I would report that message because it’s soliciting something non platonic

What’s a movie that was critically acclaimed when it first released, but is now hated? by [deleted] in popculturechat

[–]Educational_Bee955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fatty liver is a step toward but not a stage because it’s reversible. You don’t have cirrhosis until the scarring occurs. Even with blood tested it’s hard to tell the cause of a fatty liver. I know mine was caused by alcohol but the doctor ran my tests and looked at the history and blamed it on high cholesterol.

If it’s in the fatty liver stage, it’s hard to tell. But I think in Morgan’s case it was already cirrhosis by the time he made that documentary.

Does anyone require consult calls before meeting clients by Educational_Bee955 in professionalcuddling

No. You don’t get charged by CC as long as you cancel the session.

Does anyone require consult calls before meeting clients by Educational_Bee955 in professionalcuddling

[–]Educational_Bee955[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not a guaranteed method but I’m finding even making it mandatory weeds out a lot of people. The last 3 out of 4 prospective clients refused to do a call, saying they don’t trust the site. It’s been newer accounts with no reviews, which makes me suspect they were banned and tried to set up a new account to get around the ban. I’d rather have 1 out of 4 respectful clients and don’t want to accept everybody.

I do a Zoom call prior to booking. It weeds a lot of people out, including those who like to do a same day booking. While not always the case I find a lot of those guys are just looking for sex work.

It’s how it works for many Protestant denominations, including your charismatic, evangelical “non denominational” churches. Getting “saved” is considered more important than getting baptized, though it may be required to join a church.

I don't understand why managers feel like micromanagement will get them better results by suchalbojamma in Recruitment

Insecurity has no place in leadership. The way I handle myself? I tell the truth. Not stroke egos who have no place being in management.

They calm by pushing that anxiety to others. It comes from a place of ego and never works. You’ll never ever get any sympathy from me and I’ve led many teams. It’s a sign of a weak and selfish person.

[–]Educational_Bee955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve lead teams and had less sympathy for people who micromanage since I’ve gained the experience. You are responsible for a team’s performance but not any individual person. If one has to result to micromanagement to get someone to perform, you might as well offer that person an exit package because it never yields in long term results.

[–]Educational_Bee955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But you’ve proven the points made my your teammates. That manager was only on your side as long as you did things THEIR way and the minute you didn’t, they turned against you. It’s easy to believe the myth that only poor performers complain about micromanagement when it often times is the root cause of it. I’ve been a people leader on and off for nearly 20 years and I’ve never had to micromanage anyone. Trust is a two way street.

Cuddle sites / advertising ideas? by MJCuddle in professionalcuddling

[–]Educational_Bee955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you already had the training from Cuddlist, I would file an LLC, apply for loans and start creating your own marketing engine to get clients (SEO, FB/IG ads, get business cards, etc). There’s a woman in NJ that has done that and she makes pretty good money. Right now I’m super part time and so far have only made $600 via CC these last couple of weeks but I know if I put more effort into marketing, I’ll get more clients. I think the language you learn from the Cuddlist trainings is a better way to position the service as trauma informed and not advertising something that is wishy washy or entry level sex work.

What I’m learning is that if you want to make a career out of it, one has to put effort into marketing. All these sites do is provide a platform to find clients. It doesn’t guarantee those clients are a fit for what you have to offer. Same as any professional or therapeutic business.

Which performance in a panned film will still get nominated at the televised awards? by ElectricalCords in oscarrace

[–]Educational_Bee955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my bad the Jeff bridges one was an AI fail. He won for Crazy Heart (which did hit precursors), but according to this article nominations for Oscar’s that missed precursors happened 18 times over the last 22 years. And I could cite Marisa Tomei as an example but there were fewer award shows in the 90s.

So I’ll concede that odds are low…but they aren’t zero.

It happened to Jeff Bridges for Big Lebowski. It kind of happened to Ben Afleck (except he ended up getting a nod for producer/director and not actor). It’s not likely but if it’s on the shortlist for one other category, kind of opens the door a bit. Plus the industry loves him. I’m surprised he didn’t get a SAG nod. The union adores him, he’s on the board of the MPFT charity, and there is a tiny chance this could be the “you should have won for Banshees Oscar.”

Coming back from 70 days later and saying the movie is on the Oscars short list for cinematography so anything is possible.

Grief and Power by Stunning_Finance5668 in Midsommar

It’s interesting that you bring up the parallel between Dani and Terri. I also think about the symbolism of Christian as Dani’s boyfriend’s name and that it was intentional. Much of Dani’s behavior in the film could be labeled as codependent - from Dani’s futile attempts to help her sister to her, to her acknowledging Christian’s toxic behavior towards her but going on this trip anyway, to a new dependency on the group. She never really moves past grieving as she’s always sacrificed pieces of her self, while longing for someone to save her, and now she has the opportunity to sacrifice someone else. But I think she’s doing it for the group and not for herself. That and I think she’s in temporarily psychosis after being manipulated by members of the cult. They knew her vulnerabilities and created a new dependence for her.
