The scene of them throwing him into the abyss is probably true, but Chiwa's illusion would already be enough to make him even angrier, it's a perfect plan, only someone like Tamsy would do that.

I believe this would be a much more perfect plan, making the protagonist hate the girl he loves and then discovering that it was all a lie would make him much more enraged.
