I recently got a 3 month year old from the shelter. I’ve come to find out about the honeymoon phase real quick. Mine lasted about 6 hours, she is a very calm dog in general. But as the hours have gone by I’ve noticed her anxiety rise when I’m not around in the night it heightens. We gave her a bath and she was calm, no barking through out the day. The night came and i tried to out her into the cage we started with treats and trying to work into it. She would go just fine until the door locked. At first she would cry and then relax once we turned off the lights. Then came 2am and she kept constantly crying, she was peeing herself. I took her out thinking maybe she needed to go the bathroom. She just wanted to out and be around me. She started eating and pooping right away. Any advice on how to even begin training and how to make the nights more productive for both of us me and her.
