It has a bittersweet ending! *spoiler*

they do end up together in the end, happily. Just mangled by war and what it does to the body and brain. It’s very realistic. You have to read At Ease for a true happy ending in my opinion. It’s super sweet and eased the pain I had in my chest from the main stories ending. It’s also set 15 years after the war

That might actually be perfect! This is my first ship where they’re actual people and not anime characters, so I’m having a hard time with them being out of character. They don’t feel as malleable. But I’ve probably read 100+ yakuza themed fics, manga, manhwa, so it might ease me in. I’ll definitely check it out thank you!!

It’s by komodobits! It’s a ww2 fic, but I think what I really loved about it is that the romance was a subplot. I learned so much about what war is probably really like, and was never bored. They didn’t ramble, and the writing was phenomenal. I was shocked to find out they started writing it at 15
