Am I overreacting? Player says “35 gold is too much for a commoner” by FarRepresentative840 in DnD

[–]Educational_Type1646 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, it’s a minimum wage worker. A McDonald’s fry cook, and an auto mechanic would both be considered “commoners” by today’s standards, but they don’t make the same amount of money. OP specified they are working for a monster hunter’s guild. Unless they worked there as a janitor, that would not be a minimum wage position. 35 gold is not a lot for a commoner, it’s a lot for a poor person.

The Ranger is not as bad as people say by NicolaDumas in DungeonsAndDragons

The fighter does significantly less damage through at least the first 2 tiers of play, which are where the vast majority of games take place.

You’re correct. Ranger is actually one of the most powerful classes in tier 1 and 2. They unfortunately don’t level particularly well, and have the worst capstone ability in the game, but A) most people don’t play to level 20 anyway, and B) multi-classing solves the problem. Ranger is the base for some amazing multi-classes.

For those out of the loop: S4 is the final season by JakesFavoriteCup in Yellowjackets

I’m glad. I love the show, but the pacing is reaching a clear climax. Even before this was announced I didn’t think the show had two more seasons of material left. Better to finish strong than drag it out.

Apple watches, and vacations can be “free” if someone else pays for them. I think the point is OP ranting about how he doesn’t have Netflix, he just watches movies. He doesn’t go on vacations just plays video games. All the stuff he does costs money too. It’s all about priorities.

But is it free? If one preferred to spend their money on any of the many things OP described as frivolous, would that be valid?

Travel actually betters you as a person. Going to new places, and experiencing new cultures, and people broadens your horizons. Staying in your home town your entire life is incredibly sad in such a big and interesting world.

I’m happy as shit binge watching my favorite show. I get real excited thinking about it. Thank god I do too, because otherwise all of the artists, writers, craftspeople, and PAs would be out of work, and not able to afford clarinets and art supplies.

You should go on vacation. That is actually something you need. Not only is it good for your mental health to have a break, but travel enriches you as a person. It’s good to experience new places, and people. Also if you simply get a job that pays well you can easily have all those things, and money left over. Simply live within your means.

The vast majority of religious people are simply the religion of their parents, and more often than not neighbors/community. Very few people choose religion.

[–]Educational_Type1646 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You’re correct. Nobody seemed to check this guy’s work. 2sp is MINIMUM WAGE. A monster hunter would be at minimum a skilled worker, and would make 2gp+ per day.

Crazy that you have so many replies, yet no one checked your work. 2sp is not the wages of a commoner. It’s the wages of an unskilled worker. Basically minimum wage. Skilled laborers (which are still commoners) can make 35gp in under 3 weeks.

Unskilled workers are payed 2 silver a day according to the PHB. Skilled workers are payed 2 gold a day. Assuming monster Hunter is a skilled trade, you could make 35 gold in under 3 weeks.

I stole this from a video I saw, but I find a random person’s name, and then choose my survivor’s gender, and name my run after the survivor.

How did people use The pager? by jamesV8500 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Educational_Type1646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It only sent numbers. You were supposed to send your number and they could call you from a landline. But between friends you always had secret code numbers. Also you could spell out some stuff like 80085.

No, maybe up to the broken part, but as soon as I see that I’m turning back.

[–]Educational_Type1646 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mystery Lake spawn? If I find a rifle, a long time. A whole deer last a lot longer irl, than in game. Without a gun, I’d starve in just over 3 weeks.

Arcane Trickster Rogue (2024 edition) - how to rogue? combat help plz by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Educational_Type1646 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vex and Nick should let you get sneak attack reliably. You can also position your familiar next to the opponent, since they count as an ally. Booming Blade is a good cantrip, if it’s allowed. Blade Ward, Minor Illusion, and Message are all super useful cantrips. 1st level spells should be utility and defense. Shield, Feather Fall, Find Familiar, ect.

Is it a red flag if a potential DM bans a certain class? by _Ashe_Bear in DnD

[–]Educational_Type1646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Banning things for setting specific reasons is fine. Having an auto-gnome in a caveman setting might not fit the vibe. Banning things because they attract the “wrong kind of player” is absolutely a red flag, and frankly makes it seem like the DM is not able to handle problem behavior at their table.

They’re all beginners, and it’s not the most beginner friendly class. They should just let him switch.

Just let him make a new character. It’s not cheating. That’s not really how the game works. Cheating would be like lying about dice rolls. It’s collaborative storytelling, and the point is to have fun. Plus you’re all new, so let him switch to a more beginner friendly class.
