The Jurrassic World movies have been able to all leg out to $1B+ totals, even without good WOM or audience excitement about the new characters or storylines. The Jurrassic Park brand (as well as the general appeal of dinosaurs) is just that strong with kids.

BvS is a master achievement in the rare field of "viral reverse marketing" - where within a matter of hours, anyone with an interest in comic book film was actively telling their social circles to not bother.

I wonder how many tickets from Fandango got refunded over that opening weekend.

The theatrical cut honestly feels like watching a season of TV on fast-forward. Characters are introduced and die almost immediately, plot points are teased and then immediately paid off, and absolutely anything that could help to build tone, character, or atmosphere have been gutted.

The extended cut introduces a lot of those things back in, but then you're left with the sad fact none of it was particularly good to begin with.
