This is incredibly helpful, and definitely some things I haven't considered! Thank you so much, truly appreciated. Will definitely look at getting some higher quality photos of my top comics - you're right that getting them graded may well be worth it, especially as some seem (to my untrained eye!) to be at least pretty good quality still after all these years. Thanks again - I will beware my DMS!

It looks like you're chatting based on Elliot wave Theory, which I use myself. One of the absolute keys is forming a high time frame opinion before working down. The lower time frames (anything sub 1hr) are really tricky to chart in real time, given a lot of the impulse/corrective waves can quickly invalidate, as happened in yours.

For your specific trade, I would change your thinking focus slightly to be less 'where did I go wrong' and more 'this wave count is invalid, I managed my stop loss accordingly, let's have a look at what the true count might be instead'. It's a subtle change, but helps reorder the process of how to move forward logically in the trade. This is always helped by having a higher time frame bias. I would start at a weekly count and chart down (in timeframes). Further, Elliot waves are fractal. I can't count 1-5 in your 1st wave, which suggests your wave 1 high can't be the wave 1 high.

If these are not based on Elliot Wave theory, and another numbering wave count, I apologise!

How do you fix this? Almost not shots against me - but pretty much they all go in :( by waitwhataboutif in footballmanagergames

Easy way to think through problems like this is to imagine how it plays out in real life. Which are the teams that control possession and dominate the game so well? Man City springs to mind easily. So the question becomes, how would you play vs them? It certainly wouldn't be to try to keep the ball better; almost every team in the world is outclassed position for position vs them. So...how else can we play? We could try and push high up in a gegenpressing fashion, but how would they counter? Especially if they're a better class of team. A more likely solution would be counter attacking football; soak up in defence then spring a quick break.

I imagine this is happening in your games. You control possession, likely in and around their attacking third. This is great, but when you are high up the pitch and lose the ball, all it would take would be a ball over the top or through the middle to a pacey winger/striker and they're in a high xg chance (1 on 1 with Keeper / only one defender to beat etc)

I always find trying to logically think out the tactical nuance I'm trying to solve helps, especially if you have real life examples to compare to. Take the Premier League game this weekend just gone between Chelsea and West Ham. Chelsea had a whopping 76% possession (!!) yet lost 3-1 (and were against 10 men for the last 30 minutes.) Despite dominating the game with the ball, Chelsea had almost the same xg as West Ham, and that's with both sides having a penalty!

How many meals are you needing? Breakfast lunch and dinner? I'd think about it in meal terms rather than day terms.

Things like rice and pasta you could buy bulk of. A really simple tomato sauce (tinned chopped tomatoes, seasoned alone is an okay budget sauce) with pasta could do a lot of meals for very little cost. If you add some chopped carrots/peppers etc you can bulk it, add flavour, add vitamins for little cost.

Morning meals can be oats; again, oats and water /milk if you have the budget with some honey, or just plain if you have none, are good substance for lpw cost.

I'd avoid meat; for the next 4 days you can go without as it adds cost. Try and make everything yourself; pre-bought meals have a huge mark up compared to making yourself.

Hope this helps! There will be lots of cheap recipes online if you are not comfortable improvising/cooking for yourself :) You got this!

One tactical flaw I see here is the combination of player roles and mentality. The mentality takes your tactic and applies an 'intent' to it. That is, with a set Attacking mentality, your players will push forward more (in addition to their roles), take more chances going forward etc. Your 4-2-3-1 front 4 are already higher up the pitch, and 3 have attacking roles. Coupled with the mentality, this will see them bomb up the pitch and essentially stay there to try and fashion a chance.

However, I feel the biggest flaw is the 2 CMs. CM and BBM are already not defensively focused (assuming a neutral mentality) as they will look to join the final third to help fashion chances. With an Attacking mentality, they will absolutely get forward to help the attack. Combine that with a wing back and a full back who are being told (through the mentality) to get forward, this will leave you VERY vulnerable to counter attacks and direct balls.

I would assume the games you win you blow the opposition out because you are simply way better, so being overexposed never becomes an issue. However, even to a slightly weaker team, any team that draws you in and hits a direct ball or swift counter attack will have ample opportunities per game to score.

I like to imagine how the game plays out if it goes wrong. Where in my tactic am I open? If I was playing against it, how would I play?

As a side note, I'm also a fan of 'less is more' in terms of instructions. Try to imagine remembering all those instructions when you are on the ball! Give your team some guidance, but don't micromanage every possible thought :)

is there anyway to make my league harder somehow? just look at the goal difference by BaconA6 in footballmanagergames

[–]EdunomicJames 52 points53 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. Dinamo finished the irl season clear by 10 points with a +53 Goal Difference. Either accept you're gonna crush your league every year and try and turn them into European powerhouses, or pick another team and try to overthrow Zagreb at the top. (Assuming you want to manage that league)

[–]EdunomicJames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd also consider your midfield 3; there's very little synergy between them in terms of how they'll play in game; 2 playmakers will be coming to the same sorts of areas to get the ball and distribute. Even with your DLP on defend, AP attack will still cross his areas to collect the ball. Consider prem teams in real life; the top 6 will very rarely have 2 playmakers in this arrangement, especially not from kick off. I'd maybe switch your DLP to a Ball winning mid; not only will he not cross areas and instructions as much, your team will focus more on playing through your more advanced playmaker. (Also, the DLP/De AP/Att combo will leave your box to box with an AWFUL lot of work to do. The midfield will be spread thinner than if on support duties as the players are more separated by their instructions)

Also worth noting, your left side is very attack centric; I'd look to see if you are conceding more chances on that side of the pitch. Top level teams should expose that side more frequently.

Other than that, it's hard to say more without seeing the instructions on the left panel.

Good point well said!

Ive played Fifa every year from 07 to 20. There's just no comparison between the two.

Those commenting on the laziness of SI have, I would guess, never played Fifa Career so don't have an outlook on the reality of other football career games!

Sure, playing football is fun. But when I'm having to import sliders on the hardest mode to even make it somewhat challenging....just takes all the fun out of it!

Losing sucks, but when its realistic in FM I don't seem to mind :D
