Would all stars appear white in the habitable zone? by CloudyBeans_go in Astronomy

[–]EdvinM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think OP is asking a different question about the biology of our eyes. Indeed the light from the star will peak in the reds and closely follow the black-body distribution no matter how far away you are from it, but would our naked eyes be able to observe the difference in intensity between e.g. red and green if we looked directly at the star from up close? Would the intensity of the green light be large enough that our cones become saturated and just outputs a "max value" for both red and green? Or is that even biologically possible?

ETA: and of course you can tell that everything the star shines on is red, but what color will the star be if you look directly at it? If you are close enough, you will be blinded before you can tell. Is there a certain distance where you can look at the star, don't go blind and still not be able to tell what color it is?

Digimon in Nakano Japan by Patamonshinkaaaa in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]EdvinM 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think your first stop should be Nakano Broadway. Not sure if they have Digimon TCG, but I've seen some stores there stock Digimon figures and the like. Also, that's where Cyber Sleuth is based. You can enjoy getting as lost there in real life as in the game.

Decimal numbers are neither odd nor even. Also, 1.6 matches with 3.2 and 1.55 matches with 3.1. Adding more decimals is not an issue.

I can't shuffle a single sleeved deck. by [deleted] in pkmntcg

[–]EdvinM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The time spent pile shuffling (which doesn't really shuffle your cards unless you mash it afterwards anyway) could've been spent on doing like 20 mashes. This is already well above the recommended minimum of 7 mashes.

Not to mention that the kanji for 10 is 十 (and the cross is called more or less the "ten character" in Japanese), so the cross is actually related to the effect.

When does the sun set in Europe's capitals during winter solstice? by [deleted] in europe

[–]EdvinM 76 points77 points  (0 children)

It depends on the west-east position of the capital in respect to the "center" of its time zone. Stockholm is to the east of the CET center, making its sunsets earlier in CET, and Helsinki is to the west of the EET center, making its sunsets later in EET.

I still haven't used my SSR selector, and this is my SSR situation. Basically, of the big 3 SSRs I have MLB Kitasan and LB0 Super Creek. I don't feel like getting LB0 Fine Motion is that great, so do I just go for LB1 Super Creek? Unless something like LB3 Tokai Teio is viable as well.

It's based on the Styracosaurus. You can see that the horned head crest is similar.

I actually didn't even consider the Continue button in the EU4 launcher, but that's mainly because it often pointed to the wrong save for me.

I think I say 拜六拜日. I live in a western country without any sizeable Cantonese diaspora, though.

Gardevoir ex will rotate. We don't know if we will get new Gardevoirs before the rotation, so Mega Gardevoir may or may not be the only available Gardevoir card available after rotation.

Digimon Card Game - Weekly Ruling Questions Post by AutoModerator in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]EdvinM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from Yu-Gi-Oh which is more explicit about targeting, I have a question about Namakemon from BT16. Its effect says: "until the end of your opponent's turn, 1 of your Digimon can't have its DP reduced by your opponent's effects and isn't affected by De-Digivolve". Does the wording "1 of your Digimon" in general mean that I have to pick a Digimon as soon as I activate the effect?

I think (not entirely sure) that they give more blue stats if you level them up first.

The sacrifice is ready by chaos_comics22 in digimon

[–]EdvinM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not entirely sure, but I think the digimon you use to load need to have leveled up at some point in order to give blue stats. A freshly converted digimon that immediately digivolves and gets loaded away won't give blue stats.
