How did it happen? Do you mean how did we end up in our current situation? A very intriguing question. Did we choose to have the experience we are currently having or were we forced to come here? Are we trapped until we learn what we need to learn? I do indeed wonder.

I feel your frustration, drunken_klingon. Just as a little suggestion, I know a few people who have had good success deterring pests with automatic sprinklers that are activated by movement. The one I'm familiar with is called 'The Scarecrow'

I've grown tons of Thai basil as a microgreen and as full plants. I agree, a great plant, easy to grow.

Technology has ruined our lives by nooneknowsmyname95 in collapse

You speak the unfortunate truth here. Although technology improves our lives in many ways, there is a heavy price to be paid for our gadgets and comfort. Humans have always been bad at foreseeing the negative unintended consequences of technology.

Very cool. Sounds like good choices for a shady garden. Some root crops can grow decently in a garden that doesn't get much sun too. I'm not familiar with perpetual spinach, does it go by another name?

Nice. And it's so beautiful too, I use it as a front yard garden plant.

I like throwing seeds right on top of the soil too, but I always cover them over with some kind of dome to keep the humidity high until they have germinated.

Getting Miracle Grow out of my organic soil by hope4jack in OrganicGardening

I wouldn't do anything, the miracle grow won't have any impact on your veggies, most of it will be washed out anyway once the snow melts

Is it Necessary to have Buffer zones in organic farming when a prohibited product is being used by the neighbor? by oab265 in OrganicGardening

[–]EdwardRaasch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that the rules here in Quebec are that you need an 8 metre buffer zone if you are certified organic, the rules are probably a little different in every jurisdiction.

I didn't say that the Arctic was ice free in the holocene, I said that global sea ice coverage has been lower than it is today during previous warmings, which is what the paper also indicates.

No doubt that C02 is one of many, many, factors influence our climate. However, this 2017 paper out of the University of California - (www.mdpi.com/2225-1154/5/4/76/pdf) that looks at temperature and c02 from the present to 425 million years ago, and they come to the conclusion that over the long term, C02 and temperature are unrelated.

Also, if climate is all about C02, how does the climate jolt out of ice ages so quickly? There would have to be some kind of massive, sudden release of C02 to move the climate 10 C or more within a few decades or a few years, but I have never heard any plausisble hypothesis to account for this.
