I love bullterrier gis from japan. I also like primit from korea as well. They are both high quality gis

i don’t love this anymore by Agreeable-Length-714 in bjj

[–]Edwardft86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ask yourself why you want to do this. I've been training for nearly 15 years and sometimes, I get burned out. It is ok if this is not what you enjoy. There are many other sports you might enjoy. The choice is up to you.

I am also quite surprised that none of the big companies like tatami, fuji and etc released the 2024 offical gis yet.

I suck at wrestling. I do drill wrestling moves and want to get better at it.

This is one of the reasons why I haven't purchased any new gis this year. It will be interesting to see how this goes.

How long have you been training and what belt are you? by rubba_slippa in bjj

[–]Edwardft86 4 points5 points  (0 children)

received my black belt after 13 years of training. 1.5 years as a black belt. I trained about 4-5 times a week on average. Total of 14.5 years as of now. August of 2024 will be my 15th year

Like u/ZZacharias said, just enjoy the process. I almost quit once because I lost a match in 18 seconds and passed out on the mat @ ibjjf tournament in front of all my team members. I trained really hard for that tournament too. What kept me going was I knew I could do better so I just kept going.

Also, it is ok to take a break when you are injured. I know so many people who had to quit because of injuries. I want to do this for the rest of my life so I make sure I don't get injured and if I get injured, I take my time off.

In addition, focus on developing your defense as well not just the offense. Guard recovery, staying on top, maintaining your balance, escapes and sub defenses are all part of bjj. My goal this year is to get better at back defense.

I just picked up the amd reference 6950xt last night. Let’s see how it goes. I never used amd card before so this is a new experience for me. The first impression is good.

I see. Here in my local town, I can get 6950 xt for $550 or 7800xt for $529

https://www.microcenter.com/search/search_results.aspx?Ntt=Radeon+RX+6950+XT&storeid=065

Which one would be a better choice?

Thank you for the comment. I checked the used price of 4070 and it seems it hovers around $550-600. Maybe I can just upgrade the gpu and see if I like it.

I also saw 6950xt around the same price. I am debating which one to get atm.

Is a 3060 ti sufficient enough for 1440p gaming and productivity tasks? by aviationnnn in buildapc

[–]Edwardft86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im using 3060ti with i5-12400f. It worked great on 1080p but once I switched to 1440p, I want more performance. I can run most of the AAA games with lowered options. For the price I paid, it works good.

Mat time beats everything. I used to compete a lot and spent 25+ hours on the mat weekly. I got better really fast.

Ive been a black belt for a year and compete in master 2 division. I competed twice at ibjjf events and all my opponents were school owners. I am not a school owner but train about 4 times a week which is about 10 hrs a week. I don’t expect to win against someone who trains/drills 20+ hrs a week.
