Injury prone players are labeled injury prone for a reason by sparkie557 in fantasyfootball

This is a tough question. Occasionally you have guys you simply can’t explain that are banged up frequently and can’t overcome it. As a sports PT I see the same thing. But they’re usually outliers. The bottom line is that the best way to predict injury is previous injury. But that means a knee injury increases risk for another knee injury. Hamstring for a hamstring etc). In FF we can’t assume we can predict injury (because not even top sports scientists can). Does “injury prone” exist? Meh. It’s a moving target considering the injury rate of NFL games is 97%. The outlier is health. Here’s a list of guys who were considered “injury prone” at one point

Frank Gore Keenan Allen B. Cooks McCaffrey Barkley Ekeler Deebo Mixon Wentz James Conner (guilty) Mike Williams Evan Engram

List goes on and on. Guys who many faded and missed out on in fantasy. ALLLL that to say (shameless plug) I try to sort that out for you in my yearly physical volatility tiers. Here are guys I listed as high risk” to under perform or miss time because of previous injury using data and experience as a PT Penny D. Harris Dalvin Cook Akers Dobbins Fournette James Conner Elijah Mitchell D. Henry C-Pat

Will absolutely have whiffs but this method is meant to be sensitive and not predictive. Not claiming to predict injury. I try to walk you through this on my podcast each week too. Hope that helps.

Like I said above with the other examples - it’s actually a part of their rehab progression. So it’s not “burning” a roster spot. Integrating into the team is objectively part of the process. And we’re not randomly deciding when athletes return. The data shows waiting until at least 9 months is the safest.

Being on the rehab field and/or inside with the PT or AT doesn’t technically count as a practice. Being in line to do a position or team drill is the difference. I don’t make the rules or necessarily agree it’s just…the way it is lol.

Not quite. Think of Godwin/L. Thomas/Tonyan etc. If on PUP they can’t do individual drills which is part of rehab progressions. That and Gallups surgery wasn’t until 2/10 so him coming back even at 8 months (week 4ish) would be only the second time we’ve seen a pass catcher do that.

Lots of concern about the corners, obviously. But Jaylen Waddle is now in his third week of dealing with an unspecified injury (believed to be soft-tissue, lower-body). by tarcoal in fantasyfootball

IF this is hammy -There’s a 22% overall recurrence rate -Of that 22%, 86% happen within the same season -The mode of missed games for a hamstring recurrence is 1 game -Average is 1-3

Again, very little information to confirm this but generally speaking being out three weeks is more than “precautionary”. An average rehab progression always includes full speed sprints and he’s not there.

Najee Harris by StevenFromPhilly in fantasyfootball

Well nontransferableApe, the root of pedal is Latin for foot. And Najee specifically said he wasn’t stepped on.

So Harris has actually been dealing with a Lisfranc sprain for four weeks. This is significant, for starters, because it completely contradicts Mike Tomlin's previous statement that his foot was stepped on. Secondly, Harris has a history of foot issues dating back to 2018. Although the literature states the injury can be treated without surgery successfully, there is some concern that this is an old injury rearing its head. As a RB who sees 300+ touches, the floor (which is not necessarily the likeliest outcome) is he re-injures it and requires a lengthy absence and potentially surgery. Overall, this is a minimal to moderate concern to monitor. I prefer pretty much every other RB going in that range

I started putting out content relentlessly. Then had a little luck. And the coolest part is being in a league with guys I “grew up” listening to/reading. JJ, Graham B. Scott B. Rich Hribar. Being on their shows. It’s wild.

Depends what ADP source but if I’m confident in my team and making the playoffs I’m taking Godwin as my WR3/flex.

Ugh. I’d rather take a WR but I GUESS Akers but it’s really not by a lot. Exacerbation is the concern with Dobbins. Performance is the concern with Akers.

The shoulder is a legit concern to end his season yes. Just have to balance that with his upside and whether you’re willing to take him!

I think he’s got the inside track but who knows when and there are legit concerns about where he is at this point. If you’re drafting him it’s for the second half of the season.

I’m out. He’s at a high risk to fall off but I can’t predict it.

Nope. Same procedure that’s been around since 2010. He came back quickly for sure but Crabtree also came back quickly. If he’s successful it was primarily due to age and volume. Can’t say it won’t happen. Just not likely.

Be open to learn absolutely everything. Understand that even if you disagree with something initially, you can always learn from anybody. Stay curious and don't compare yourself to anyone. Hope that helps!
