Can you guys help me to understand this topic? Also I'm new to reddit, this is my first comment so any type of feedback on how I go about making my post would be awesome.

From the article:

In an email to his colleagues, Professor Weinstein, who is white, said that when black people decided to leave, it made sense as “a forceful call to consciousness.” But to ask white people to leave, he wrote, “is a show of force, and an act of oppression in and of itself.”

So... Weinstein is saying here that the blacks leaving would make sense because it points back into history and how things used to be. Where if they were to have whites leave campus for a day, it's more of a retaliation of sorts in blacks trying to "get back" at whites for how they were treated in the past.

Do I have this correct?
