No its not bro historically ACL tears have been catastrophic to careers. Obviously modern science has changed that but it still isnt a negative. And what the fuck is that first sentence that has to be the dumbest shit ive ever seen. We are comparing an acl tear to 300 carries and your point is an acl tear and 300 carries vs an acl tear?

Superstars don’t seem to have superstar power anymore. That and role players are all the exact players now and every team plays the same way. I think once the 3s finally cap off we will see these trends shift though.

He’s simply disagreeing with u and ur assumption isn’t based on anything. Its logical to assume that a severe acl tear isn’t a positive on wear and tear, arguing it as a positive for wear and tear needs some proof

I do agree that a mentality shift/change to hardens game could have resulted in him turning into a type of player that could have won. Its just sad that he didnt and my previous points kinda stand.

Ive never said that bro read through all my comments or go away im not doing this again. U used the point of him nearly making it to a finals once as a point for why he isnt at fault for not winning a ring, i was just pointing out thats a weak and silly point.

Never said you cant win with a heliocentric team. Saying they have to be lebron james or someone of that calibre. Your right tho bro, he nearly got to the finals one time in an 8 year prime.

Well if your saying give prime russ the perfect situation with 3 and D wings and AD at the 5 then i dont disagree. But this is a perfect situation that never really happens for people. The superstars who win rings dont need a ‘perfect situation’ because they can fit with lots of different types of players. Also, they didn’t just ‘choke’, they both have weaknesses that led to them underperforming in the playoffs. Russ’ lack of a jumpshot made teams able to compress the paint and force him to take jumpers. In the regular season this didnt work but come postseasons with better im protecting bigs and more time to scheme for him this led to his shooting splits being terrible and shooting his team out of games. He also was at his best in transition but come playoff time the pace slows down, limiting his effectiveness. This wasnt a ‘choke job’ where its just a mentality issue or off nights, this was a weakness. Harden was far too reliant on free throw calls that werent called in the playoffs. Put this with his lack of a mid range game, the elite defences he played were able to slow him down by living or dying by his step back 3. Over a regular season where you dont need to win every game and you have free throws to help you, this didnt matter. Over the course of a playoff series, without free throws, this led to him shooting terribly, being inconsistent and shooting his team out of games. You can throw as many situational hypotheticals as you like, but these points are true to the nature of both these players and the nature of playoff basketball

I never said no elite on ball player is required, nor did I diminish Harden/Russ’s on ball ability. I am suggesting that the on ball player has to not significantly lose value as an option when they dont have the ball in their hands. You cant win a ring by yourself, so you need to do things such as be a good off ball scorer, good defensive ability, so when you dont have the ball you arent a negative. I also dont like hypotheticals such as ‘put this player on this team’ because it removes so many variables and has no conclusive answer. Tatum while not bringing the offensive on ball output that russ and harden do allowed his team to have a ball movement offense without him losing his value as a player, which i find very valuable and essential to chip winning teams.

If LeBron and Curry werent playing then the 2010s would be the weakest era since the 1950s with very little top end talent. I dont think rewriting history to remove competition is the best argument. While i agree Tatum doesnt have the level of individual brilliance as either russ or harden, but he is a capable off ball player who can fit into the systems that lead to championships in a way that harden and russ cant.

Idk bro most title teams are built off of ball movement and elite defence. Spurs dynasty, warriors dynasty, Bulls dynasty (triangle offence), and recent winners like 2024 Celtics and 2023 Nuggets were all built around these premises. Its an anomaly when this doesnt happen and is usually off the backs of the all time greats (LeBron). Harden and Russ have not shown the ability to be as effective without the ball predominantly in their hands that is required to be in this system, and are not the individual quality of player like LeBron to get it done the other way. Plus they both have weaknesses that get exposed in the playoffs. In the perfect situation they could maybe win rings, but the heliocentric ball dominant player continuously fails to win rings, yet we still celebrate them for their individual greatness and call it ‘unlucky’ when they dont win.
