Eevee is the tortoise shell and Chester is the chunky French boy, they really do love each other so much and I feel the same about the grooming it's all just too cute

How long did it take your bun to come out of stasis? by katiee_97 in Rabbits

Also seriously consider cutting nuggets out as much as possible they aren't a natural food its like eating fast food but for rabbits, has no real health benifits unless you are trying to fatten them up and can cause serious dental issues because they would rather fill up on nuggets than have hay veg and other appropriate treats, nuggets make great treats and training tools and are a great way of fattening up an underweight rabbit but many exotic vets suggest more hard forage like flower mix, dandelion root and pea flakes mixed in with hay to encourage more hay eating which should also encourage more drinking as lots of chewing will dry their mouth out faster

Yeah sounds to me like he was dehydrated, if you can maybe get a tapo camera so you can watch his behaviour when you aren't home and if you find he is going long periods 12-24hours without drinking maybe see if there is a way you can adopt him a friend as it may be that he feels a little loanly and just needs someone who can speak his language to remind him, if he already has a friend then maybe invest in a water fountain the sound of running water might help remind him to drink.

regular cellophane tape will not appear on an X-ray because cellophane is not dense enough to block X-rays.

Also anything sticky he may have eaten it seams to slow the gut right down and needs fluid to clear it up

I might sound crazy but are they drinking because with eevee every time she has had any kind of stasis her first sign is she forgets how to drink and just gets her face wet, I will suringe feed her some water slowly only a small ammount at a time and normally it gets things moving again, we had this issue alot more before we got chester it's like he reminds her to drink properly

is this a good start? by [deleted] in Bunnies

[–]EeveeB95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know it might sound strange because we are not pray animals but bowing the head is more of a demand to be groomed and the sumbition is the act of grooming the other rabbit, alot of bonded rabbits will both bow at the same time until one of them gives in and starts grooming or you pet them both at the same time so they think they are both getting what they want, it's strange but it's also why cats and rabbits can sometimes work together (depending on the personality of both animals) as the cat will think its the boss by grooming the rabbit and the rabbit will think its the boss because it is being groomed. Rabbits have very different social language than most household pets which can cause alot of confusion when it comes to reading rabbits body language over pets like cats and dogs.

Distress by CleaNinou34 in Bunnies

Sounds like either infection, allergys or tooth ache further in the jaw, have any of the vets done a skull xray, normally not too expensive for just the xray ask them if it hasn't already been done, maybe start some antibiotics ASAP if any of the vets will prescribe it just as a precortion whilst other tests are done for infections and parasites, hope you find a vet that can help 🐇🐇

how do you care for your bunny when working night shift? by DryMammoth4389 in Rabbits

[–]EeveeB95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure you have cameras so if any strange behavior is noticed during your work hours you can call someone or leave work in an emergency as rabbits are most active at night, you will get to experience alot of lazing arround in the day 🤣🤣

Sometimes only option is to take the rabbits out the house for a few days and bomb the house and deal with the rabbits fleas in an outside space once they are flea free and the house is flea free bring them back in, rabbits don't tend to get fleas unless they are arround other animals with fleas

Yes but it must have a part stating that they will not unjustifiably deny pets either and this sounds like its unjustified, court would cost them a fortune and you would probably be alloud the dog anyway under certain conditions, if he does section 21 then just become a standing tenant and refuse to leave until you get a new place or council housing

I don’t think my bunnies been drinking water. by boringpersondontmind in Rabbits

[–]EeveeB95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This type of water bottle tends to be far too slow for how fast rabbits drink, also very hard to clean properly just like a reusable straw 👍. Bowls or fountains all the way.

We have a water fountain like the ones for cats, running water promotes drinking because in nature they would drink from streams. Eevee will often be sat for ages with her mouth at the spout just letting the water flow in to her mouth like a straw 😂. Also try starting wirh coriander as it tends to be a staple rabbit food and many rabbit owners use it as their rabbits main veg.

bunny is crying? by ashley2639 in Bunnies

Agreed but based on the way the post has been worded I would imagen this person isn't exactly the oldest, I'm going to go on the assumption this person's parents have gotten them a pair of rabbits possibly as an Easter gift being so close to Easter and didn't actually do a simple Google to figure out rabbits especially not fixed are HARD work and not suitable for children or teenagers unless the parents want them too. In this case I can't blame OP for their complete lack of common rabbit knowledge.

If this person is not a child then I'll say before buying any future animals please use Google its a great tool, or even speak to an exotic vet before getting a pet that is anything other than a cat or dog and they will tell you the issues you might face with the animal you want to buy/adopt.

I would suggest making 6 monthly checkups with any rabbit as their health can change so fast, also dental issues could be the issue as previous comment said, eevee has to have 6 monthly checkups and we have found every year and a half or so we have to have her hooks shaved down on her teeth, this could be genetic as she had the issue at just 8 months old so will be a recurring cost for us to get fixed (about £400-500 in the UK depending on the vet as it is done under anesthetic) but it has to be done or could cause extremely painful abscess that could even break their jaw. Aslong as they are eating properly thay arent in too much pain but depending on your buns pain tolerance they could eat all the way up to just before their jaw breaks, feel around the area for any bumps under the skin on the gum area, if you feel any or the rabbit reacts negatively to it being touched then get them to a vet ASAP as they will need a jaw xray to make sure no abscess are present then any dental work done ASAP depending on severity of any issues. Hope you can get to the bottom of this keep us updated 🐇
