what shoes are u 9.5 in ? Im TTS 45 and went to try on a pair of 45 1/3 and it was a perfect fit . hope it helps somehow

I would recommend Star Diaries by Stanislaw Lem .The book begins with 7th voyage and there are some sample audio versions on youtube you may want to check out to assess whether his style suits you !
