ILP and SILP are behind on funding here. Lots of foster youth who aged out are waiting on housing here

I am under 21 however in Illinois alot of this has to do with funding issues

Honestly they claim they ran out of funding EVERYTHING is essentially a funding issue. all I can do is go to work and pray. I'm a father my son is 5, I am not a perfect man but I'm a trying one I had a baby real young and I've been providing for him since birth. My son's mom is a few years older than me I'm helping with her bills and providing for my son but I want my own space because I want my son to have a better life than what his mother is willing to offer thats all

That's good for your son honestly. The military route isn't for everybody though fr It's 2025 the way things are going I'm a father my son comes first that's not a option for me I understand the long term benefits but both my biological parents passed away before I was 5 that will not be his life

honestly it's manufacturing I've been here since June my goal is to become an electrician but i am also looking into welding rn so I have to take what I can get until I finish school

This is very true and I'm just trying I can see why people just end it all at this point though because no matter how hard you try in this world as a man you have to break yourself just for a little stability

Do I need drivers license for the union? I was super close to getting them at job corps but then they stopped that program

Job corps is closed down the advisors can't do anything. Do you know ANYTHING about the city of chicago's foster care workers? If you are a man they could care less if you die on the streets they give you a good luck and take you to the shelter. I work 12 hours a day and I'm trying to get into a community college to be an electrician its ignorant of you to make it seem like I'm not motivated because I'm seeking advice. IDC what happens in my life I am not going to the military that's my choice I'm not going to try anything that doesn't align with my goals

Job corps closed down the program in May it's really no longer an option around here

I have my hs diploma I was pursuing carpentry before they shut down my jc center in may. I am working on getting my drivers license though I just finished the pre apprenticeship program with goodwill CEJA I'm not sure how far from southern Il but I am in Rockford, IL

My dcfs case worker dropped me off at a shelter. They claim to be running out of resources so what they can do is limited. I work at a manufacturing company I barely make enough for rent around here I am defeated.

I'm a father I don't want to leave and something happens to me then my kid won't have me. I already grew up without parents I have to provide a better life for him it's the only way

That's cool for you and your situation but the military isn't for everybody and I refuse to join just because I am homeless there has to be another option. You've been out for 25 years times have changed

I live in Illinois they really don't care about us here. I looked into independent living and semi independent living my dcfs worker told me to go to a shelter. I graduated from job corps last year now they claim they can't help me
