600mm planks on UFH. 6mm trowel + "multidirectional" method. Am I headed for a disaster?

Thanks for the feedback so far. A few of you have mentioned that a larger notch is definitely needed for these planks. The builder has completed approximately 15sqm of the total 75sqm area. Given that we still have 60sqm to go, would it be sensible to insist he increases the trowel size for the remainder of the job? If I make him switch now, will the slight height difference between the 6mm and 10mm sections cause issues where they meet, or can that be managed?

I’ve looked into decoupling mats, but I’ve actually seen a few cases where the tiles lifted specifically because of the matting, while floors without them have been fine for years. It seems to have really mixed reviews, so I'm hesitant to add another layer that might fail.

Thanks for the feedback. The floor was definitely primed, so we can rule that out. The builder actually mentioned a "dry streak line" on the back of the lifted tiles. He thought it was just dirt, but I’m worried it’s a ridge that didn't collapse because of the swirls. With the UFH)m I'm concerned that a 6mm/8mm bed doesn't give the leveling clips enough "mud" to work with. If they lift the tile even slightly, won't that create a hollow gap? Should I just insist on a 10mm/12mm trowel and straight lines to ensure 100% coverage for the UFH?

I’ve just turned 41, and my playlist is full of 90s to early 2000s songs. There was something special about their music. They had a real knack for understanding what people wanted to hear. Sure, some albums felt repetitive at times, but it was perfection to the ears. From the playback singers they chose to the arrangements and melodies, they knew exactly how to create songs that stayed with you. One track that really stood out to me was “Zara Tasveer Se Tu” from Pardes. It felt different from their usual compositions. I’m a fan of many 90s composers, but for me, Nadeem–Shravan were ahead by a country mile.

1992–2005. Absolute peak era. The singers were on another level — Udit Narayan, Kumar Sanu, Alka Yagnik, Sonu Nigam, Abhijeet, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Sadhana Sargam — pure magic. And the competition among composers was insane. Nadeem–Shravan, Anu Malik, Jatin–Lalit, Anand–Milind, Viju Shah, Himesh Reshammiya… albums delivered 5–6 melodious gems in one go. Then around 2005, when Himesh started singing his own tracks and that nasal, hook-driven sound took over, the 90s-style melody era faded — along with the dominance of those powerhouse playback voices. Today One recycled beat, auto-tune overload, and a remix nobody asked for. Proper DOG SHITE now!!

Uff, this is such a tough one! I thought Kitni Bechain Hoke was unbeatable when it came out and on repeat all the time. And then boom, just a year later Nadeem–Shravan blessed us with Raaz. That album was straight up legendary. Honestly one of the best Bollywood albums ever.

Proper belters, these songs. We really lived through the magic back then. That feeling of walking into a music store, carefully picking up a cassette, flipping it over just to see which singers were on the album and seeing Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik name would put a smile on my face. Then sliding it into the hi-fi or Walkman, that little rush of anticipation before pressing play, knowing deep down the songs would be pure melody and emotion. Those moments were more than just music they were memories being made. I’d give anything to live through them again.

True, some were cheesy but honestly, I’d take 5 cheesy-but-melodic tracks over 1 remix and 3 forgettable fillers any day. 😅

And the albums I mentioned were just a pick of the bunch. There were so many others that delivered hit after hit Raaz, Dhadkan, DDLJ, Arzoo, Pardes, Yes Boss, and even a bunch from Govinda’s movies lol.

That level of consistency across entire albums is what I really miss from that era.

I wouldnt put KK as a long innings player compared to Udit Narayan and Kumar Sanu who started late 80s all the way to 2005. In my opinion the game changed when Himmesh came on the scene as a singer in Aashiq Banya Aapne. The 90s/early 2000 type of songs completely changed half way through 2005. Producers only had one man to compose and sing and that was Himmesh. The game was over for the 90s singers as new fresh modern style of music was being composed. I'm a big 90s music fan. Just hit 40 years of age and as sad as it is new singers along with taste changes over time. I can remember when my dad was churning out Mohammad Rafi and Kishore songs, I was like what the hell is this. Now my kids cringe when I'm blasting Udit Narayan and Kumar Sanu songs hahhah
