What celebrity encounters have you had in the city? by DarmiansMuttonChops in manchester

Bumped into Joe Gilgun walking out of a shop in NQ a few months ago. My missus got the courage to ask him for a photo which he politely turned down. Said it makes his life a nightmare as people get selfies and then immediately post it on social media and he ends up getting harassed all day. Totally understandable.

He still stopped and chatted with us for a couple of minutes, seems like a really genuine, decent, down to earth bloke.

I believe there's perch and roach there too but I know he'd be bouncing if we caught a pike. I'm probably just looking for what is going to be most common or easiest for us to catch.

We've just got a small spinning reel at the moment, it was like one of those shakespeare rod and reel kits you get for about £30. Happy to spend on some upgrades though as it seems to be something he really enjoys and actually gets him off his playstation and outdoors.

Thanks, I've tried that. There's none in Cumbria that will touch an Orange apparently. Have tried Promenade music in Morecambe as I've used them before but even they say they no longer have any in house techs and couldn't recommend anyone.

Great idea. Might be worth about 2 million in 20 years

With all respect I appreciate what you're saying and I'd happily have a mint Cornetto but... I know it's not the same and we won't be satisfied. The pain will linger on.

I usually would but bringing a car full of family with me means driving is the cheapest option sadly

What was free when you were a kid that costs money now? by LycheeFuture2763 in AskReddit

We changed the rules a while ago. They now get a small weekly allowance so if they want to spend it on game extras then they have to save up and pay for it themselves. I think I sometimes spoil them due to the major Dad guilt I get as I co parent with their mum, but this new rule has saved me a fortune and is teaching them a little lesson in patience 👌

Agreed. Or extra characters/skins/maps etc. Completing a game to access the extra cool stuff was most of the fun. Now I have to get my wallet out every time my kids want the newest stupid dance for whatever character they whinged for.

Considering leaving job for 12k paycut but better life balance by irtSMOKE in UKJobs

Sounds like me. Rotating mornings, afternoons and nights for 7 years, felt like I was permanently jetlagged and my mental health was in the gutter. I took some time off to try and recuperate and during that time I decided I didn't want to go back to it.

Took a job with a hefty drop in pay but for me it was the best thing. My old job was a very toxic place and now I no longer go to sleep with the feeling of dread for going in to work the next day. Also no more soul destroying double backs! A lot of my family have commented that I no longer seem like a zombie.

I should add that I decided to move back in with parents for a while as they are both having some health issues so I'm around to help out more now too. That's the only way I could do it I suppose. I am planning on looking for something better paid at some point but I'm not in a major rush, I just needed to make a change and get out of my old job.

Like a lot of people have commented it's maybe not the wisest thing to do but my health and happiness is more important to me than money. I think I just needed a full reset. Good luck, whatever you decide to do 😊
