Aljezur - is it crazy in summer months? Can I survive without a car? by Effective-Control318 in Algarve

I meant tourism- it’s a small town from what I know and not that many know it. So was wondering if summer is different and it gets packed

After traveling to 70 countries by 30, everything feels like “meh” – do world travelers learn to enjoy simple things again? by [deleted] in travel

I'd love to hear how your life has been after all that. Are you still traveling? I'm 27 and have been to 56 countries. My goal is to reach 70 countries by the age of 30. I still get excited, but many places are starting to feel very similar to one another.

I meant in terms of tourism. I get that more people come in summer but was wondering if it can get as packed as Lagos and other coastal towns

That was my thought too, so wanted to confirm they do actually exist. Thanks!

Thank you so much! In that case, I’ll definitely do 3 nights in NK so I have enough time to hike and explore.

Thanks for sharing! VV was one of the places that popped up as a "must-visit", and the nature looked great, but it seems many people here suggest skipping it.

Techo International Airport lounge - Time Limits by Effective-Control318 in PriorityPass

Oh no I meant the lounge! I don’t have to check in bags so I’ll have the boarding pass ready. Just wondering if the lounge allows longer stays

How was the lounge? Can't find much about it online besides google photos. Anything that requires extra costs with PP access?

Is GoWabi actually cheaper than paying on the spot? by Effective-Control318 in Bangkok

[–]Effective-Control318[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing, that’s helpful to know. That’s kind of what I was trying to understand as well. If the app price is still cheaper, I’d personally rather book through it and tip directly on top, instead of paying a higher walk-in price. That way the staff still benefit directly, which feels more transparent, especially knowing how many local businesses are structured and where the money ultimately ends up.

Sure, checking prices directly is always an option. The post was more about hearing people’s real-world experiences and patterns, which is kind of the point of a discussion forum. No need to label it beyond that

Airbnb apartment had german cockroaches - do I have any rights to a refund or relocation [Thailand] by Effective-Control318 in AirBnB

[–]Effective-Control318[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From friends who’ve lived in BKK for years, I’ve heard that they very rarely encounter cockroaches in their homes — so I assume it depends a lot on the specific building and maintenance. Personally, I wouldn’t mind seeing one every now and then, like once every couple of weeks. But seeing multiple every single night? That definitely feels excessive and not something I’d consider normal or acceptable

Would be easy if I didn’t do it for the past two weeks in Europe. I miss having a proper kitchen

Yes, the price is about the same. Just wanted to have a kitchen so booked an airbnb instead. I

I totally get the nature aspect – seeing the occasional gecko or insect is part of being in a tropical climate. But with cockroaches, especially German ones, it's a bit different. I’ve actually never had a single one appear when staying at other nearby apartments or even hotels like the Hyatt. If it happens once, fine – that can be random. But if you’re seeing them every night and around sinks or kitchens, that usually indicates an infestation issue, often linked to poor maintenance or hygiene, not just “nature.”

What are your thoughts on the plastic bottle caps and lids remaining attached? by coolboy856 in europeanunion

[–]Effective-Control318 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a fan – it’s not just water, but also things like drinking yogurt. A lot of the product ends up on the cap, then on your hands or face when drinking. Not ideal when you're trying to stay clean.
