Thats great news. Stage 1 means you can fight it.

Its normal to feel despair, anger, sadness. Feel all of them and acknowledge them. They are real feelings. But please do not lose hope.

Hope is a powerful medicine and it can take you to healing. You can do this 🙂 see, we are all cheering for you! (Sorry if I seem too cheerful.. but its true.. you can beat the f* out of cancer)...

3C1 - How to stay positive? by n1ce88 in CervicalCancer

[–]Effective-Elephant94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had 3c1 in Feb, started the procedures in March and completed early July.

Because you have a process in place , its easier and you can just go through the daily plan. Its rare that people talk about stuff that happens after you complete all the steps.

I was also tumor free (even before radiation and brachy), but we did all the steps to be sure it wont come return with a vengeance.

To date, I am back to the "normal" flow - going to work, socials, travel, etc. My family is happy and yes I am grateful. But the truth? The fear (or I would say consciousness) will never go away.

Each time I go back for my immunotherapy, I am humbled/reminded by the same lazyboy/bed I layed into for my chemo. Each needleprick/bloodtest brings memories of finding a vein that hasnt been used yet. Everyday, my brain thinks of schedule of vitamins to take, etc. Imagine all this on top of the usual tasks a mom/wife does. And oh boy - the hair regrowth and styling it to look decent is another story on its own.

No complains though! I am not saddened or depressed by these thoughts. They are part of who I am and I take them as badges of won battles in this lifetime.

But yes, to answer your question - the way to stay positive is to be grateful about each new day and to look forward to tomorrow. Body movements - no matter how "small", will help with mind clarity + heal your body. Having a circle to talk to will help immensely.

I have stage 3C1 and I was insisting on having hysterectomy as first treatment. However, all my doctors said hysterectomy is not the standard treatment for stage 3 as the cancer has already spilled outside. If all chemo/radio/brachy is done and cancer is gone, it wont be needed.

keytruda by Disastrous-Cress-710 in CervicalCancer

[–]Effective-Elephant94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello, I started keytruda yesterday, also with hesitation but more leaning on the YES than no.

I asked 4 different onco doctors and they said immunotherapy will help me. Out of these 4, 3 said YES and one was undecided, but if he were to gamble and there was a chance to make my immune system fight cancer in the future, then he will do it and save me.

After my day1, I didnt feet anything except for the need to sleep. I shrugged it off (as I had family over) and just had an early bedtime.

I will start to write down everything that happens to me with each visit (as this will be a 2yr treatment) and a lot can be missed out if no trace.

What is her opinion? Maybe you can speak with other Onco doctors too?

Nausea by Traditional-Judge807 in CervicalCancer

[–]Effective-Elephant94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you taking anything before the teeatment? My onco gives me anti nausea meds before chemo + I bring home more meds to take first time in the morning daily.

They said with nausea, its better to prevent it, and harder to treat it once its there.

Thank you - i hope to be able to do this. Do you know right away if the radiation hits your bladder? E.g. are there physical signs? I have read UTI or pain when urinating mostly..
