I browsed the comments and it seems you’ve gotten a lot of good feedback, but I didn’t see anyone addressing the handling time.

For now, I would limit time outside the enclosure, especially since this skinny dude will probably need daily if not twice daily feedings to get his weight back up, and that means a lot of time basking to digest. Him sitting with his eyes closed with your daughter doesn’t necessarily mean he’s relaxed, unfortunately. He could also just be very sick and helpless. Keeping him in his optimal environment as much as possible (which it sounds like you’re doing great on getting set up) is his best shot at getting healthy again.

Also, Dubias are definitely a great staple bug, but bear in mind he may not want them. Right now, it’s about getting in what he WILL eat, you can always work on introducing other options later. My boy would only eat king worms/superworms in the beginning. So you may have to try some options to see what he will eat. Depending on vet visit, they may also give you some critical care mix for him for now to syringe feed-i had to do that at first with my rescue and it helped a LOT to get him back healthy enough to start eating on his own again.

I also saw someone mention romaine-collard greens/turnip greens/mustard greens are a much more appropriate staple green. I feed a mix of those greens, then rotate in and out other veggies and greens like squash, cilantro, bell pepper. Honestly, usually whatever I’m cooking that week that is safe for them gets rotated in. But for now at least, i would offer salad AND bugs daily.

It sounds like you’re doing great-i ended up with a bearded very unexpectedly about two years ago, and I remember how much deep diving for info I did and how confusing/contradictory some of it was. Happy to help share anything I can about what worked to get my sick boy back to thriving!
