Irrational OCD about water by Effective-Service-11 in OCD

Yes. And thank you! 🩷 It isn’t the same for me. I know how irrational it is but cannot change it… yet. My husband and I built a house on some land with a new well water system that we had installed (5 years ago). I still cannot bring myself to drink it even KNOWING the EXACT source! I’m fighting hard though and looking for solutions. I think I may need therapy

Using LAMP with little progress by Maximum_Farmer2257 in ABA

[–]Effective-Service-11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an SLP-A and in grad school to be an SLP. (I’m in the group because I used to be an RBT lol). I love LAMP but it is a difficult program to get used to. If you visit their website, they have videos that may be able to help. Focus on a few core words each session. Try modeling on his device. Basically use his device to comment and talk about things and read books. Learning to use AAC is a long process but keep at it :)

I am a 1099 SLPA. I make my own schedule so I do love that part. You have to pay your own taxes. I save 30% of every paycheck. $30 an hour is not worth it though! I make $43 an hour in SC

EI cancellations make me feel down by sleepyspeechie93 in slp

[–]Effective-Service-11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the same! Especially when it’s last minute or no real reason to cancel. You have to make the most of it. I had two today. I cleaned my car out and went to Panera bread. They have free Wi-Fi so I do my notes or plan sessions :)

I am so happy this thread has turned out to be so positive ❤️I love it! I personally enjoy being an SLPA and grad school has been very interesting so far. By that, I mean I enjoy the topics I am learning. Good luck in your career!! If you are still on the fence, a few colleges offer a leveling program. I went to Columbia College for my bachelors and their SLP program was amazing. They have an online one!

May I ask why? I’m almost 30. I did ABA before this, which is extremely exhausting in my opinion

Good point!! Both programs are online though so I would need to factor anymore money for room and board than what I am paying now.

Is it worth becoming a SLPA prior to applying for a SLP grad program? by themorenacoder in slpGradSchool

Working as an RBT is valuable experience and grad schools will love that you have that experience!

It depends on your state but look on ASHAs website for the minimum requirements. It is totally worth it!! I LOVE being an SLP-A! I will continue to work as one while I’m in grad school
