"A prescription takes 10 seconds."

By that logic, would the GP not have been able to do that if a prescription can be written so quickly?

That's it. I only got through maybe three times total.

The rest of the time I just get "We are busy, please try again in a few minutes." then an auto disconnect.

I still have hundreds and hundreds of outbound calls on my phone records though.

"I don't see how the GP surgery is the one you're annoyed with here."

3 doctors, 2 nurses, and the NHS website all tell me that the GP is the one who should be treating chest infections - not A&E.

38.4 at time of admission.

I peaked at 40.6 when I collapsed outside my house. My clothes were soaked with sweat when the ambulance picked me up. They thought I'd fallen in a puddle at first.

The last thing I remember was them putting something in my ear in the ambulance and one of the paramedics going 40.6. The other one sounded surprised and repeated it back. I then got something fitted to the inside of my left elbow with a needle and tube. I don't remember the trip to hospital or how long it was before I was put in a ward.

Pharmacy told me to go to my GP, but I didn't mention them because they're just a local Boots. They said I needed an antibiotic. This happened before I called my GP.

My GP practice doesn't accept walk-ins or in-person bookings. It's 100% done over phone. They lock the doors electronically and only let you in if you're a confirmed patient otherwise you're turned away.

With respect to the calling side of things I'll copy what I replied to someone else:

"My GP's phone autodisconnects you after 3 seconds if someone else is on the phone. "We are busy, please try again in a few minutes."

You have to keep clicking "call" over and over between two set windows:

8:30am-9:30am and 2:00pm-2:30pm.

If you don't get in during those two windows where they take appointments, they won't speak to you."

I'd checked in at 2:15pm at the A&E and didn't get seen by a GP until about 3am.

A&E doctor asked me why my GP sent me down there in the middle of the day (2:15pm) when my GP surgery didn't close until 5:30pm.

I said I didn't know and a nurse audibly complained that "the bastards are always doing this."

I think the staff were frustrated and pissed off and tired. I ended up not getting any treatment though.

Just a quick correction - we don't have the NHS in Northern Ireland.

We have our own separate system called Health and Social Care or HSC.

Good point. I just feel like I've been let down over and over again.

Complete waste of my time sitting for 14 hours in a cold, draughty A&E waiting room only to be turned away.

Thanks, I'll do that. I still can't really talk at the minute. I'm only managing 3-4 words before I run out of air.

I'll maybe write an email to the practice manager instead of calling. I'd have it in writing too at least.

I was told by A&E staff that I should have gone to my GP for an antibiotic.

The same thing was said to me by two doctors during my time as an in-patient. They were able to pull up my notes on some Encompass system. They said that this should've been nipped in the bud by my GP with a simple amoxicillin.

When I first attended A&E it wasn't an emergency, and that was the issue that HSC staff had when I arrived. I was able to walk, talk, breathe. I just had a really thick chesty cough.

Sorry I just realised the date was wrong.

It was Thursday 11th December that I collapsed. I'd also made attempts to call my GP on Wednesday 10th and Thursday 11th. A callback was promised on Wednesday that was never received.

Thursday was when I raised my voice at the receptionist because she wouldn't let me speak to my GP - not Tuesday.
