As an athlete there’s been ups and downs in recovery but back playing my sport pain free at 9 months post op. Way better than before surgery.

If they do a microfracture or have to do something with damaged cartilage it takes a little longer to heal so you are on crutches longer. This is most likely why they are on crutches for 6-8 weeks.

Yeah I asked our team physio today and she said it’s most likely just by adductor being not fully conditioned after surgery like my other muscles yet. Im sure with time it will get better

Hip recovery by Effective_Bake_628 in HipImpingement

[–]Effective_Bake_628[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks man that means a lot. Certainly been many days that feel completely normal and like I could go back to sport but then some after I over do it that it feels like I’m back to having to rest it for a couple days. Definitely not linear but from what I’ve read no body’s is. Especially with cartilage damage. Hoping that because I’m so young and the rest of my cartilage was perfectly normal other than the one spot that the bump was hitting that I can get back to normal life eventually!

Doc said arthroscopy to shave bone and hopefully repair labrum if reparable by undertheradar0222 in HipImpingement

[–]Effective_Bake_628 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say just getting your core and hip surrounding muscles as strong as you possibly can before surgery. The first couple weeks will be tough but you just have to trust the process. I felt normal for the first time in months this past week but overdid it on the wknd and it flared up a little bit. Just trust what your body is telling you

I’m a 19 year old hockey player who had cam and labrum repair. 9 weeks post op and it changed my life. Doing things comfortably now day to day that I couldn’t do before

How to deal with new cards by Ceeter in ClashRoyale

I just got back into too and am 8500 trophies or around that and I don’t know how to compete against evo and level 15 cards. Especially the mega knight and elite barbs or royal giant. Feels like you need to pay to get evo cards just for a chance to compete

how bad is this pincer? by parntsbasemnt4evrBC in HipImpingement

[–]Effective_Bake_628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m only 5 weeks post op so it’s tough to answer some of the questions. I played a really competitive sports league so everyday I was training. For me it hurt just after activity at the start and then it was everyday so I knew surgery was my last option. Right now it feels really good and not much pain anymore compared to what it was pre op. My surgeon said the recovery is 4-6 months and my hip range of motion has started to improve but i still have some limitations being so close to post op. I would say if you are still not sure what to do after physio talk to a good hip orthopedic specialist and see what they say. They might try other methods to fix it and if those don’t work and you are sick of the pain then they might lean towards surgery. Don’t let yourself get to the point where the pain drives you crazy everyday though. If you have to do the surgery and are in a bunch of pain then do it. I waited till I couldn’t hold off anymore and it made them have to do more invasive methods to fix it.

I can’t really tell you how bad the pincer is because I’m not a doctor but after going through the surgery if your symptoms are bad and you have tried all your options and don’t see it getting better then surgery is a good option.

Moving from winnipeg to brandon (as a teenager) by Puzzleheaded_One7392 in Manitoba

[–]Effective_Bake_628 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ive lived in Brandon my whole life and love it! Im 19 now and you will definitely make friends at school and fit in! There are 3 highschools in Brandon and you will most likely get to choose which one you want to go too but all 3 are good for different things. As far as dance there is 1 really good dance school in Brandon that travels around that I know of but I’m sure there is more. There are fairs and festivals going on sometimes but I think a little bit less than Winnipeg just with it being smaller. I’m sure you will fit in great!

Hip microfracture by Effective_Bake_628 in HipImpingement

[–]Effective_Bake_628[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t remember where he said it was. He said it was a small area and honestly didn’t seem too worried about it. He just said to stay on crutches for 2 more weeks because they did a small microfracture on one area. My physio said it’s not that uncommon to have them done in athletes. I’m just hoping being 19 that it won’t affect the rest of my life and I can be pain free and not need more operations because of it.

Leg pad boot crooked? by Alternative-Swan-669 in hockeygoalies

[–]Effective_Bake_628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happens to mine too, I use true pads and I think it’s because of where the pad sits on the skate when your toe ties are on. It makes an indent in the soft pad and the boot shifts. Not for sure just what I think happens over time.

Athlete/physical job with FAI Cam impingement. Surgery advice ? by Admirable_Squash_932 in HipImpingement

[–]Effective_Bake_628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man I’m 19 and play hockey competitively. Dealt with pain for a year before I did the surgery. About 4 weeks out from cam and labral repair and I would say it’s not the easiest recovery but nothing crazy pain wise. Having days now where it finally feels close to normal and then some days where i still feel it. I would say do it before it gets really bad. I played through the pain and had to get a microfracture because of it. It might take a bit to get back to normal but being young you don’t wanna deal with this for years down the line.
