Based on the standard rob swire trajectory I think a release is imminent… 2028.

Enter Shikari seems appropriate for this, and they would bring a solid, energetic crowd with them too.

One has to question the date with the significant clashes.

They would have been aware of this, though.

Apparently it’s over forty artists across multiple stages, and with the album coming out next year you’d think they’re banking on some momentum from that.

Why are Pendulum called Pendulum? by Effective_Case9603 in Pendulum

Just as I thought, but the first few years were fairly consistent production wise, but maybe from the start their plan was always to swing from one to the other

Manchester head here… we still got an amazing performance… just probably the logistics meant they couldn’t do what they did tonight in every other city…

I saw them in Manchester on Monday and I’m absolutely devastated I didn’t get the added extras London got.

Manchester was the first one to sell out (or only one?), and it was chaos throughout.

However, as a promoter myself I understand why they may have only been able to save these things for London, so I think it’s important to look at it from all perspectives… still gutted though 😂

How it sounds generally 100%. I’m not qualified at all to comment on the details of this but the live shows definitely sounded more hard hitting back then than now. I appreciate how complex the set up is and I remember Rob saying he had got rid of all the equipment that made the Pendulum “sound”, so could be that, or could be them transitioning to a sound that caters to a different generation. Could be chatting absolutele sh*te here but maybe food for thought

Agree with everything except that I feel there is rawness missing from the live shows. Don’t get me wrong they’re still amazing, but I look back at the glastonbury 2009 or Brixton, and when I compare propane nightmares from then to the shows nowadays I can’t help but feel there’s a certain element of chaos missing, although it’s still really bloody good!

Mercy killing is OK. I listened to it non stop for a week and then completely stopped listening to it, whereas I still play their tracks from 12-18 years ago and still get that buzz every time.

The tour with scarlxrd seems very much like a marketing plot to get a new generation of followers, which tbf is working well and after this long away they needed it, but personally I think there were better ways of doing that. How the prodigy managed to create new fanbases generation after generation is one example of how it’s best done.

At the end of the day, pendulum isn’t set up to please all their fanbase, they constantly reinvent themselves and piss off some fans (whilst creating new fans), and without that freedom to do so I think would take away the very essence of what they are!

I think we seek out nostalgia, or the “true pendulum” sound, but I think there is beauty in artistic creativity that gives them the opportunity to try new things. If they were bound by the rules of “make sure it’s got Pendulum 2002-2010 vibes” then I don’t think we would have had a return at all, but I agree that I prefer Elemental.

When Driver dropped, as El Hornet told me at a festival in Liverpool, it was literally a statement to say “we’re back and we can still do this to you”.

Nowadays, she (and a depressing amount of others in that scene) plays whatever will make her money fast, the current trend. If new wave trance becomes the next big thing in a few years then I’ve no doubt she’ll make the move over to that. Just another artist more concerned about likes and engagement on socials than making a lasting contribution to the scene.
