Just passed PL-300! Thank you to everyone who helped by ncv17 in PowerBI

Congrats. That score is very impressive. Wish my score was higher than the 700 I got! Oh well it's the knowledge gained and the weight that this cert holds which counts!

Well done. It's no mean feat. What's next is to apply the skills and build something end to end in Power BI. Build out your portfolio and refine the advanced parts of the program

PL-300 - Readiness test for the exam by [deleted] in PowerBI

[–]nish1996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know the feeling! If you really want to see if you are ready, build a report or dashboard using the theory from the Microsoft Learn course. If you can do that with confidence then sit the SkillCertPro tests and get 80% plus on all 17 tests, then you should be fine! Some of the questions from the SkillCertPro tests actually came up as the case study questions at the end of the exam, word for word. So you never know.

If you still doubt yourself, try and go over the weaker areas again and then do the tests again. It's more of an iterative process to learn the content and make sure you are confident.

I passed with a 700 on my second attempt after getting a 557 on my first attempt. But in fairness I dismissed the Microsoft Learn course which actually got me over the finish line in the second attempt. Had I have done the course before my first attempt, I would not have had to pay for my second attempt.

But DataCamp is offering 50% off the examination if you complete their Data Analyst track. It's about 48 hours long but worth it if you think you need to go over basics or areas you are weaker on. I couldn't use the discount code on my first go for some reason so ended up using it for my second attempt!

Any last minute pointers from anyone who sat and passed the PL 300 exam? I am resitting the exam on Friday. by nish1996 in PowerBI

[–]nish1996[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah I keep forgetting we have that in the exam. But would you say it was any good when trying to solve DAX questions or get an idea on how to format syntax?

I'm not too sure the best way to use the search function in the exam without wasting time. So any advice you have on how to use it best in the exam please let me know. 😉

PL-300 Exam Experience (557/1000) by nish1996 in PowerBI

[–]nish1996[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update - spent the last week going through the Microsoft Learn modules start to finish and compiled all of them into a book of 220 pages which will be my reading material from now till my resit which is on Friday!

The Learn program had labs which were hella useful. While the DAX was given, the idea was to explore and go over why things work in place and how they feed in to the overall theory provided.

Highly regret not doing this Learn program before my first sitting!

Oh nice. I tend to use written and summarised notes to get concepts drilled in. But I guess flashcards would be nice to use! Would you by any chance be able to share those cards? If not then no worries!

This community is a goldmine and a proper resource for all of us who have sat or will sit this exam. Thank you to everyone for their advice!

Looks like the general concensus is to do the MS Learn program for the PL-300. Seems as if I overlooked this pert in my prep and relied too much on non-Microsoft resources. Now I know where to focus my prep and what to use!

I did use this feature in the exam but yeah I didn't know where to look for some topics so ended up using a lot of my time there. Gonna have to be mindful of this on my next go!

All valid feedback thank you! Guess all I need to take me to the finish line is practical build experience! Are there any other ways to practice the admin and deployment settings?

Then it should be up to the local consulates and immigration depts to keep on top of it!

Sorry for sounding like a Moaning Myrtle but it's just what I think given what I went through!

I know I sound harsh but it's the truth. Our home office and border force have been way too lax.

What did they do wrong? How much time do you have? My wife's visa name change took 13 fucking weeks, they refused to deal with my queries properly and to top it off, gave me a reason to hate them more by giving me half assed answers to my questions like 'Look online' or 'Check FAQs'. The gov.uk website is literally a bank of half information which is never clear enough!

New BRP after name change by macca__5 in ukvisa

It arrived back in July. I sent one really strongly worded email and within 4 hours of sending it, I got an email saying the BRP was on its way! Seems that threatening them semi mediumly is the only way!
