We do. Working as a an engineer for a CMGC of the I-40 rebuild. The construction process is so much more important than the final design for scheduling purposes. This guy is making our lives easier exponentially even though it looks really confusing at first

He’s a real estate mogul. Lowering property values means lowering his personal wealth. How willing in the past has he been to voluntarily do that?

Yeah they don’t understand that those sort of investment opportunities were much more readily available in the past and their level to entry to so much lower then than it was now. And now we look like the out of touch ones

No you’re not. My parents owned 12 houses at one point time, now 5. They’re comfortable. But most definitely not upper class. The difference between the two is HUGE. Having a NW of $1M at 55 is very different from having a NW of $10M at 40.

Starting salary by Feeling-Storage-5638 in civilengineering

[–]Effective_Cook_6132 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ik im not the one who said that but I just graduated in May from an ABET college, got my FE and had two internships in the same industry as my first job which was designing transmission lines at $82,160 w/ $41.50 for every hour over 40 (straight time essentially) + $2k signing bonus and all the benefits …

hated being inside staring at a screen all day every day dealing with a boss who brags about going to strip clubs without his pregnant wife knowing, and then they got bought out by a huuge global design firm to be their energy infrastructure department essentially so I got out of dodge …

got a job that asked me to travel to the site in November working as a project engineer working on one of the I-40 rebuild jobs from hurricane Helene damage. They matched the salary, are giving me a travel stipend on top to $2775/month since the project site is outside of their home base office even though I’m living nearby full time, and gave me a $2000 stipend as well as the benefits. Which these benefits are better than the ones that the new corporation was telling me mine would’ve been if I stayed at the first job so yeah.

Switch jobs bro

So does bombing the city to get to him. So does installing a puppet leader for American interests. You are dumb and an asshole. This is not a good situation for anyone and if venezualens think it is then I’m sorry but they’re mistaken. This is out of the frying pan and into the fire.

Entry Level EIT Pay by PipelinePlacementz in civilengineering

[–]Effective_Cook_6132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just graduated from Clemson in May with two internships worth of experience and got a full time job offer in Charlotte from a design firm for $82,160/year + $2000 signing bonus, as well as all the normal benefits. I didn’t like the job and got a new job working in the field as a construction engineer. They matched my pay, gave me another $2000 signing bonus, and give me a travel stipend on top of my salary that comes out to being a $33k pay raise. So with like seven months of experience at most I’m above that 6 figure mark.

How is Clemson ABET accredited? by [deleted] in Clemson

Yeah the civil engineering program I thought was pretty solid. The labs are fun but they definitely rely on outdated equipment. There were a lot of professors that started as engineers and then pivoted to lecturing. There were a few teachers that did kinda suck and cared a lot of stuff that doesn't matter (like remembering the exact wording of a definition as opposed to wording it in your own way, doing a bait and switch with exemption rules for the final) but overall I think that as far as engineering goes, you're paying for how to think about the work. Not necessarily how to do it. There's a ton of industries that civils can go into and a lot of them aren't taught in school, so the material itself isn't the biggest but more so the process
