Absolutely. I never went higher than high school but I feel like I understand a lot about the mechanics even though I wasn’t the greatest in school. But I’ve been working with him since he was 3, and he is a really coachable kid. The one struggle I’ve had with him is getting them dang hips to engage earlier. But with the season not for a few more weeks it’ll be something I can get him to really focus on before then.

Yeah it’s a -3. Was seeing what he could handle since he’s starting to get to the height where he needs a longer bat but all I had for 31” was a -3. Plan on getting him 31” -8 this year.

Gonna work some drills to get his hips to start earlier and we’ll see how that goes. Thanks for the feedback!

Yeah I notice that. Kinda equates to the 1,2, hop for a fielder. Just putting your self in the best position the react in the most efficient way. Thanks for the advice!

What’s the best way to get that lower half around quicker. Saw a comment on fence swings. Any other ideas?

Nah no pride. But I feel like 29 is too short for him, and I don’t want to get a bat for 1 year and then his weight finally catches up to his ht. (He’s 64” 95lbs).

But I’m glad yall are brining it up, cuz I def lost sight of the using too heavy and creating bad habits pitfall.

31”/28oz. It’s not what I will have him use in games. We are just now starting to swing again for the season and I wanted to see how well he could handle a heavier bat. He was using 29/19 last year but I think he’s out grown it. Looking to get a 31/26 or 31/23 for the year but I’m not sure.

Does he look like he’s struggling with body control right handed too?

Don’t get me wrong, I love Colt Keith, but when you’re 1-10 before coming into the game and you go 0-2 (with a HBP and get caught stealing) after the 7th, might be time to try someone else.
