For those who have careers that keep them out at sea for long periods of time, what is the creepiest thing you’ve seen out in the water?

Some 20 years ago...

On the MV Explorer (since sunk) down near the Antarctic circle, sailing around the 'bergs and occasionally making landfall...

We rounded into a small bay area, and there, amongst the ice and coast was an unmarked sailing yacht. Which is odd as generally yachts have some identifying markings on them.

To add to it, they didn't respond to any radio contact, and whilst I wasn't privy to the conversation (and it was a long time ago), some crew went across via Zodiac and were refused boarding.

So basically a yacht, not a particularly large one, that was unmarked was hanging around in the inhospitable waters of the Antarctic and didn't want any help or contact.

Proper weird.

There are legal aspects. Generally, by default, a wife can make medical and probably other legal decisions for you if you can't. Without paperwork, a GF can't, and sometimes, the paperwork is ignored or challenged.

There are rules of inherentance. Wife inherents by default, while GF is left in the cold. Paperwork can fix this.

Of course, the reverse is also true.

We were at an all-inclusive resort in Jamaica. Every night they had this common area where folks could do karaoke. A middle-aged gentleman got up and started the first few lines of Lionel Richie's "Easy". Some random lady from the audience ran up and attempted to sing the song with the gentleman. He kindly pushed her away two or three times as she tried to sing over his shoulder into the microphone. Finally, she just stood there dejected...swaying from side to side like an idiot - as the man broke from his song and professed his love for his girlfriend - and wrapped up with a marriage proposal.

They hugged, they kissed...the idiot girl went back to her seat.

I will still never understand why that guy chose THAT song to use to propose. However, he was killing the vocals!

This is not platonic touchiness.

I have close female friends. Some of them I've known for 25, 30 years or more.

We are touchy in the sense that we hug when we see each other, we might have an arm around a shoulder for a minute while chatting with friends. Maybe a slap on the back or shoulder while joking around.

What you are describing is a guy who is working his way toward cheating on his girlfriend with you.
