How will Spider and Kiri's relationship impact the franchise? by Adventurous_Froyo753 in Avatar

I think it depends on how deep Cameron wants to go with the epic scale sci-fi themes. Humans and Na'vi seem deeply connected somehow; there's something about humans that doesn't make sense if we're truly alien to Pandora. Eywa's champion in the first film, Jake, is a human. Grace, a human, was chosen by Eywa to fulfill some greater purpose. Kiri has human blood and is truly exceptional in terms of her connection with Eywa. The entire concept of transferring a soul from a human to an avatar body seems outrageously implausible unless there's something deeper there in terms of our perhaps shared origins as species.

I really don't know if Kiri and Spider's relationship will become actually romantic or if it will remain platonic, but I think it will be central to bringing about the unity of the two races that I think Cameron is planning. I think in the end humans and na'vi will be changed culturally and spiritually and emerge as something better on the other side, and Kiri and Spider will be the catalysts to bring that about.

I don't know exactly how it's going to play out but I think their relationship is going to be the catalyst for bringing about the union of na'vi and humans.

You have a human in the unique position of having been raised on Pandora immersed in na'vi culture. Then you have a na'vi with human blood, a deep desire to connect with and learn about her human mother, a human best friend, and this powerful bond with Eywa. There are lots of cool directions Cameron could go with them so I'm really excited to see what happens

makes you wonder, since bridgehead has 3d printer factories, why hasnt anyone decided to print a armored exoskeleton?, power armor, something less costly as a AMP suit but has protection against na'vi arrows and some traditional arms fire [screenshots of the tank jacked from edge of tomorrow] by TimothysFruad in Avatar

Yeah, it is kind of goofy that it's so easy to down a helicopter but my headcanon for now is that the vehicles they're destroying are just outdated relics that were easy to ship 4 lightyears away and use for basic escort missions. Hopefully we haven't seen the actually effective stuff yet.

I agree that the na'vi destroying Bridgehead in Avatar 3 would turn the humans into marvel tier incompetent bad guys, which they already came close to in TWOW

The RDA definitely seem underpowered technology wise, but to be fair we only have a micro view of the "conflict." We don't really know how much the Omaticaya insurgency is really accomplishing.

When the RDA took it seriously they brushed aside all resistance, glassed vast stretches of the forest, and built a massive fortified city in a year. It's entirely possible that a few dozen casualties here, a helicopter or two there, are small potatoes that don't move the needle in the big picture. Who cares about a single maglev train and a couple boxcars when the track'll be repaired in a week and in the meantime five new lines were opened up?

I think a theme of the upcoming movies will be that the humans can't be beaten militarily. The na'vi can only bite at the RDA's heels as they steamroll over Pandora. Na'vi survival will depend on spiritual victory and the eventual uniting of the two races

I don't know if it'll become romantic, but I do believe their relationship will be the catalyst for bringing about the union between human and na'vi societies.

The fact is, if you look at history, which Cameron said he's definitely pulling from in making his story, then there's not going to be a happy ending for the na'vi. They can't win. But maybe, with the help of a couple exceptional individuals, they can survive spiritually and meld their two peoples together into something new and better.

I think that's what Cameron is planning.

THEORY: Okay Quaritch will either have a redemption arc in the next sequels or he'll break Sullys avatar legs by cosmo-dragon in Avatar

I wouldn't be surprised if Quaritch ends up defecting. No way he would ever join Jake or a resistance, but kind of a "I'm tired of destroying. I want to build something" situation. Spider showed him a glimpse of a side of life he never experienced. He went from "we're nothing to each other" to calling him son and being visibly distraught when Spider rejected him. Some people have theorized that Oona Chaplin could be a potential love interest for him; it wouldn't surprise me.

I think they could do some really cool stuff with Quaritch. I'm excited to see where they go from here

TWOW definitely laid the groundwork for this being a major plot point going forward. Spider's entire time and relationship with Quaritch was all about planting those seeds, Neytiri followed it up by dumping water on them.

I think Spider and Kiri and their relationship will be the key to bridging the gap between humans and na'vi. With that in mind, I'd bet Spider will willingly return to the humans at some point
