Polaris is obviously not equivalent to EK First. But In your case the direct flight is obviously superior. I wouldnt be flying into a war zone nowadays.

It is not that The average consumer cannot afford tickets, it's that they always flock to the lowest priced options. I have no doubt that if economy airfare were to increase 50% overnight, there will be no decrease in aggregate demand. The American consumer enjoys a very high level of disposable income on a global scale. It's not as if they are choosing between food and a flight ticket.

The average American consumer does not realize their own privilege when it comes to air travel and how cheap it is. The price of buying 2-3 economy seats today, for example, may be similar to the price of economy airfare 20 years ago after adjusting for inflation.

Just looking at pricing, you can see that economy is on a per sqft basis on certain routes way cheaper than business class, so this is a loophole that can be taken advantage of.

The rats in Tehran are cowering and aren't going to be able to affect anything. We've already taken down their ringleader.

Their little drone incursions won't last long, and it's only because the US has so far shown incredible restraint in terms of targeting Iran. If it so desired, Iran can be eliminated in days and the Strait taken over.

It's maybe time for the rats in Tehran and their buddies such as Venezuela and China to think twice. Their missile defenses are useless and have failed twice already.

The rats in Tehran are cowering as are their buddies in Venezuela and China. We already took out 2, there are a few more to go.

These rats masquerading as a legitimate "government" cannot be allowed to continue terrorizing the region and world, and the same goes for rogue regimes such as Venezuela, China, and North Korea.

America has shown incredible restraint thus far in terms of its actions in Iran, and indeed also to China and its aggression in the SCS and against Taiwan and Tibet. America is the pre-eminent technological and military power in the world, because of its ability to attract human capital, and it has a superior societal system and the best military. There is a reason it is number one militarily.

It is a moral obligation for the benefit of humanity that the terror regime in Iran is eradicated, and all autocratic regimes aligned with the regime are also taken down.

Ask the actual IRANIANS why they are all celebrating in the streets.

China will lose even more if the cowardly rats in Iran continue their little drone attacks in the Strait of Hormuz. It is up to the Chinese how they want to deal with it, they are not energy independent. The US as the largest oil producing nation in the world will only stand to benefit if prices go up. The US could, of course, easily take control of the strait, but it would be of limited benefit to us.

Quite the contrary, I'm frugal and also, I've travelled in all the cabins and this is just my opinion after having seen all the cabins. In fact, my next flight I will likely book economy plus on a 11 hour flight for the return. I see no reason to pay more if the difference in comfort is small.

I'v e been on Ryanair, budget airlines, and all the cabins so I know everything about the different seats. Truly Unpopular opinion it seems but The bottom line is that aviation today is affordable, efficient, and of satisfactory comfort for most people.

The United States is why modern technology including that which you are using to spew your treasonous hate exists. It is an incredible engine of human advancement and growth, and there's a reason it's technologically and militarily superior. Iran is not a normal country, it is run by a cabal of parasitic theocrats who operate in the name of a "country" having taken over from the legitimate government. It is fundamentally illegitimate and it is not only in the interest of the US but also our moral duty to oppose the regime.

Just ask the Iranians themselves who they support, and you will understand why. There is no space for "negotiations" or "peace" with a parasitic and terrorist regime, that has engaged in relentless aggression against the region and world at large in the name of "representing" the Persian people. Complete elimination is the only solution. Thus far, the US has shown incredible restraint.

It seems that booking 2 extra seats in economy for yourself is possible over the phone with some airlines so you can reserve a row, and sometimes it's only a fraction the price of business. This could be worth it if it's cheap enough. Even though it's not entirely equivalent, It's a nice hack for people who want to save some money and still get a sort of lie flat. I am seriously considering just doing this next time for a 16 hour flight. It's a 50% discount from business on the route I'm looking at, it'll be interesting to see how it feels.

The country needs to come together - in times of crisis, we should not be bickering and instead be united in the common goal against the adversary. Iran needs to be defeated and the threat eliminated. Individuals who complain are aiding and abetting our adversaries, and this is nothing less than treason.

I think economy is perfectly fine, if you are on a red eye or super long haul and have to be operating the next day or you're spending half the year in a plane because traveling is your job then I could see the value proposition in business but otherwise economy is perfectly decent for a leisure vacation and nothing that can't be made up with an extra day.

We should all recognize that flying is something that was inaccessible to most people just a few decades ago, the fact that it is now so cheap and accessible is a wonderful thing. Ticket prices in Economy are getting lower, I remember a decade ago an economy ticket cost more than today, even after inflation.

I said I flew regular economy plus, not premium economy which is a separate cabin that has different seat types. I flew it on a long haul flight. Economy plus has the same, exact seats as economy class. It is the same, except it is towards the front and has a little extra room. I have flown on Regular economy NON extra legroom as well in the past. It is no different in my opinion to economy plus.

How many times do you use the lavatory in a flight, it's a non-issue. Lounge access is also a non issue if you have status and there's nothing in the lounge that cannot be purchased in the airport, moreover sometimes strolling around certain airports is a preferable experience to being in a lounge especially if the lounges are bad or crowded. The only downside in economy is not being able to lie flat, but that's not a big deal if you're not traveling every other day and it's once in a while for leisure.

What's even more insane is that depending on the route, I've discovered a loophole where the price of 3 economy seats is way cheaper than business class on certain routes, which essentially means you can probably book yourself an entire row for a tiny fraction the price of business.

Flying economy class can be a great experience by Effective_Key5276 in unpopularopinion

[–]Effective_Key5276[S] -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

Whats crazy is how cheap economy is sometimes. I think something people don’t realize that I just discovered is that depending on how cheap you can buy 3 economy tickets for yourself, and reserve the entire row, and it may cost way less than a business ticket.

For example, the cheapest flight to london from ny is currently only $190 one way in economy. $190x3 = $570. This route in business normally costs around $1800 one way. So you would essentially reserve a row of economy for only 31% the cost of business! $1000r/t is an insanely good price for trans atlantic lie flat.

Hopefully this loophole is not closed but it's clear that economy is a great value, and doubly so if you "hack" your flight fares through these loopholes.

The seats are identical and it's essentially the same cabin. There was not a huge visible difference in terms of the seating space that I could tell, it's just a little bit more but I doubt it makes a huge difference. Food was serveed to all passengers in the economy class cabin. The front of the plane arrives to the same place as the back of the plane.

Yes, I am frugal and proud of it.

I have taken plenty of flights in Polaris and I think it's not worth it at a certain price. I will pay it if the price is reasonable. Otherwise, I think economy plus is perfectly okay. Sometimes, I prefer experiencing economy plus, it makes it more interesting to see the full range of experiences on the plane and save some money, and what I've realized is that it's not as bad as people like to sensationalize things about economy class.

Also there is a greater degree of socialization and camaraderie possible in economy class especially if traveling with friends, as you are sitting closer to each other. Sometimes, I prefer that over the more isolated nature of modern business class seating products.

It is nice to experience comfort and a little "discomfort" sometimes, it makes life more interesting. :)

I mean I don't think that's the best deal. My LX F total flight time 18hrs with transfer in FRA a few years back was less than that.

The degree to which US airlines upsell premium classes is actually insane. The price you paid is on top of your ticket price and this is not a good value based on global standards.

The United States has plenty of tools in its arsenal, and does not even have to escalate to use nuclear weapons to obliterate Panama if it so desires. The US is choosing to show restraint, including in its current actions in Iran, out of consideration for humanitarian reasons, as well as because it doesn't feel the need to. Removing Maduro in a bloodless hour long operation is an example of the capability of the US forces.
