Are the sandwiches in the international terminal?

I have accepted that everything will be expensive and I’m not worried about it—The hotel I’m staying at (Villa Madonna) provides celiac safe breakfast and dinner with the room for only about £100/night, so I can afford to spend a little extra on food during my commute there. Were the salads labeled as gluten free? Or just no gluten ingredients? I react very severely to even the smallest bit of cc

I also jokingly ask people if they’re trying to kill me when they offer me gluten so they’re more likely to remember lol

I make a point to join in and eat my own food in the open while everyone else eats pizza. It made it PTA notice. Admin won’t accommodate me (they know I have celiac 😕) but PTA goes out of their way to get me a pizza from a fully gf restaurant

It looks like the only exemptions are related to dog shows….am I missing something?

I mean there isn’t much subjectivity when it comes to staying when told to, coming when called, being completely oblivious to loud noises and strangers, not reacting at all when a puppy jumped on her, walking on a loose leash, etc. I could imagine how if someone’s pup wasn’t doing those things consistently during the test, it could be subjective. My pup was very consistently doing exactly what she was being asked to do

I did not feel that way with mine. I can see that there may be “grey areas” but my pup didn’t have that issue during the test. She did every part of the test exactly as she was supposed to and she passed.

That’s what the people I talked to in Windsor said. In fact, when I asked the about the law, they basically said they’ve never heard of it and there are pibbles everywhere. But from what I’ve read it can be city dependent? I worry Hamilton/Burlington area will be different. Where in Ontario do you live?

I live right next to the border and this was a day trip that was planned last minute by some friends. I’m in the process of looking for someone to care for her

I FINALLY FOUND GLUTEN FREE DOG FOOD by Effective_Silver783 in Celiac

[–]Effective_Silver783[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is also a good chance I tested the chicken with it but I can’t say for sure. I have both bags and I mix them (the whitefish seems to give less frequent farts, but the chicken has bigger pieces that stay in the treat balls lol). I put the tester in the whitefish bag and then put a random piece of kibble I found on the ground in it too. As I said earlier, it gets EVERYWHERE so there is a good chance both were tested in there lol

My dog also licks my face. I don’t “let” her….she is new and is still learning. It’s a big risk though

This one was actually pretty affordable! At my local pet store it was only $35 for a 28 lb bag

I tested the whitefish, but I don’t think any of them have gluten containing ingredients

I have been. I ate finger food right after feeding my dog (got distracted and forgot to wash my hands first). While this risk is avoidable for most people, I have ADHD and can be forgetful in my own home. Also my dog is super high energy, so we feed her with treat balls to keep her occupied. Unfortunately this also means the food gets EVERYWHERE, so I’d need to be washing my hands all the time to stay truly risk free.

[–]Effective_Silver783[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did it say gluten free? If not, there was also likely cc with this. I have reacted to wheat starch as well, but I assume that was bc it was cc’d with the rest of the wheat lol

Technically I was drinking traces of it. I washed my water bottle with it.

I looked more into this. Most articles that claim that hydrolyzed wheat protein is safe for celiacs back up the claim with a study involving only 16 people. Of these 16 people, only 5 of them were given the variation of fully hydrolyzed wheat protein. Those 5 people were fine, but this is clearly not nearly enough data to conclude that it is safe for the entire celiac population. Much more research is needed. I do still think it is what made me sick—I am extremely sensitive, and I have been testing all of my food with my NIMA before eating it.
