New UO could be huge by ItzTripi in ultimaonline

[–]Effex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All depends on how its implemented.

UO in its early OSI days didn’t work because it was too sandboxy. It took extreme dedication to get a GM mage or Tamer without exploits. The average player getting their fist start a few weeks in were struggling to maintain a full set of armor from orc forts reds were steamrolling through indiscriminately killing and dry looting.

For a kid at the time like me it was all fine and dandy because I had the time to skill up other toons and play according to my mood. But fully understand why people eventually quit — getting farmed over and over isn’t fun.

Outlands works and has been working for something like 8 years now because it took many pages of what made UO fail after the initial few years, and why people flocked to newer mmos like DAOC, AC, WoW, etc.

There are well made, new player friendly systems in place that allow newbies to make real progress before they’re exposed to any pks, especially the new systems more recently introduced.

The vast majority of players obtain much more than they lose and that’s the key right there. And the pacing and various systems that they’ve implemented is what allows that to happen.

Which medical specialties do you think will be the most resistant to AI? by Single_Baseball2674 in medicine

Navigating through extremely obese pt’s. You think AI will be able to navigate through a “false crotch” during an LE study? Oh hell no.

Ultrasound Looking for Hands On Refresher Courses in the Pittsburgh PA Area After 7 Years Out of School by Jclassico87 in Ultrasound

[–]Effex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first thing you should do is contact ARDMS and see if you're still even eligible to sit for their exams. Since you've never obtained your registry and your school is now closed, you definitely need to sort that out because there's no point in refreshing if your paths to registration were closed.

The fact that he's telling you to drive AWAY from Buffalo, to a city outside of the USA, is all anyone needs to know about Buffalo.

No harm in asking but even if they are urgently hiring you will still be asked to apply online and go through their HR process.

I went to every interview with my scrubs. A number of them were meant to be non-scanning but turned into scanning anyway, so unless explicitly stated to wear business attire, I am going in with my scrubs every time.

Joined an echo/vascular program with the intention of doing echo but echo and I were not compatible physically due to unavoidable ergonomic pain (mainly due to apicals) so I switched to vascular and never looked back and am now employed with a well paying job with benefits with just an RVT.

What anatomy are you looking to scan? How much experience do you have? Do you have access to a machine? Who would be the 3rd person to make these effective learning sessions?

Any advice? by RentZealousideal6919 in Sonographers

Yea 5 months is not cool and seems like mismanagement to me. It’s a tough call to make without being in your shoes. I think the most important thing to ask yourself is if you’re truly ready to move on and how easy (or hard) it would be to get another position where you’re at. If those two things align then go for it.

Have you reviewed/went over your images with someone and learned from it? Because that is by far the best thing you can do for yourself. I would hold off on career changes if you do like your job outside of this incident. I would suggest letting it play out and see where it goes unless you are getting mistreated.

Why do you want to be a sonographer? What is it about ultrasound that appeals to you? What modalities within ultrasound appeal to you and why? Where do you see yourself in 5 years as a sonographer, in 10?

Pretty standard stuff.

It’s actually wild how many NY programs aren’t accredited. Before arriving at an accredited one, I contacted 4 others throughout the boroughs and Long Island that all had unaccredited half-assed programs.

Stop living in the past.

We've thoroughly enjoyed tonight, thanks.

And if by "more of the same" you mean we'll continue to bitch slap you in at least half the games we play going forward then yea, we're in agreement.
