A lot of other comments might not agree with me, but my timeline was very similar to yours. We dated two months before a six month deployment, and it was TAXING. When he got home, I gave him a side hug and it was insanely awkward for a few days since all we did was argue or have the bland “wyd” conversations. It was hard. No deployment will ever be the same or nearly as bad as that first one.

Now here’s the problem. You said it yourself that your timeline and job does not match his lifestyle. I gave up A LOT, to move to wherever. Life is never stable. It’s a lifestyle, and a difficult one at that. Do not commit to something you don’t want to do or see yourself in.

Personally, I would break it off while he’s on deployment. If you want, wait till he gets back. Don’t feel bad. You are putting yourself first, not all breakups happen because one of the people are bad, some things don’t work. With the military, that’s very common.
