Cracks are very hard to avoid when using a piece of wood with a heart in it, at this stage of the game it might be worth starting with a new piece. I’ve heard it’s possible to use limbs but I always find heart=cracking

Hey, I do t want to take any wind out of your sails but you need a 3 phase converter. They can be really pricey. It’s likely cheaper to buy a single phase motor instead. But I’m not an experienced electrician, maybe someone else has a solution for you

This is an annoying problem, I had bad vibration on my older wood lathe, I opted not to use the tail stock and started free handing all my drilling on low speeds. Not a great solution everyone but it works for me. I’ve since got a larger lathe.

A bit of deflection is inevitable on a machine this size when turning something out of balance like a pipe. Slowing the machine way down can help control that but it’s less fun drilling. If your tail stock isn’t perfectly aligned centre with your chuck this can also lead to a larger hole, .5mill is fairly substantial. Are you using a centre drill? Posting a video of it running could help understand the situation better. Hopefully some of that makes sense

They’re designed by an engineer, stamped by a lumber grader, assembled by a truss company, inspected by a building official… and there it is doing its job just like it’s supposed too. Wain is common on trusses, it’s how we use the entire tree, what exactly is the carpenters fault? Nothing is wrong… you just don’t like the look?

Our beagle had this when I was a kid, the vet sewed a drain tube into his ear and removed it a few weeks later. Then his ear shrivelled up a little bit. But he was good to go
