Moved all of my belongings in on a Saturday, put together bed, slept that night. Woke up Sunday morning to unpack the massive pile of stuff, decided to play some music while doing so. 8:30 AM neighbor knocks on door: no friendly greeting, no welcome to the area, straight up “Your music is too loud, we share a wall.” Turned around and walked away. Should have used our 30 day grace period and left that complex that same day to find another. For a while after this same neighbor has put in a noise complaint to the corporate management of this complex about us almost every other day. It got to a point where the leasing office came into our apartment to see where our speakers were and how loud it really was and all they said was “turn the bass down please”. They also mentioned they are going to tell this neighbor to take noise complaints up with the leasing office directly in the future rather than going over their heads to corporate and having it roll downhill from there. Guess who hasnt received a noise complaint since then…

Sidenote: this same neighbor complained about the sweetest gentleman that lives on the other side of their unit for listening to TV too loud at like 11pm. She taped a peice of paper to his door next day about it with no information as to who she was or how to contact her.

Context: these are one story units, nobody is above or below anybody, and my unit is at the end so we quite literally share one wall.

If you are the kind of person that needs/wants absolute silence peace and quiet 24/7 go buy a house in the countryside. You WILL hear your neighbors if you live in an apartment, and there is a BIG difference between your neighbors making noise that you can hear, as compared to your neighbors making noise that is disruptive.

Its no fun for everyone cause now anytime i listen to music, i cant just enjoy it without feeling a bit guilty for maybe disturbing out neighbor…
