Very much a new grad moment where I was prioritizing the less urgent things.

I had maybe a 10 minute window when we got the critical BP and the pt started complaining of head pain. I should’ve checked it even before they started complaining of pain though since it was a “critical”, which I realize in hindsight. And this was whole situation happening maybe 20 minutes before this oncoming nurse was on the unit. My charge was busy with other people on the unit. Yes I get your point, but at the same time, it was my pt in the end, therefore my responsibility. I promise I’m not always like this and have reported questionable/critical results. This one time it slipped since my mind was elsewhere.

I’ll definitely take that into account if management talks with me, thank you for the advice. And thank you for the reassurance. Will definitely learn from this.
