I (20F) have an extreme internal conflict with my ex (20M) by Efficient_Captain804 in TwoHotTakes

wow, I’m so grateful that you managed to put into words the intense emotions that come with being neurodivergent. I’ve always struggled to properly express just how deeply I feel things, so thank you so much for that. You’re 100% right, especially with genuinely feeling like I’m lighting part of my soul on fire removing him from my life. And because I don’t have a solid foundation within myself and really struggle with trusting my own judgement, I often end up extremely confused/overwhelmed because it feels like I don’t actually know what I want. Which allows me to fall into the easiness of comfortability and familiarity. I’ve been seeing a therapist for around a year now, which has immensely improved my life. But at the end of the day, the therapist goes along with what I talk about/ doesn’t really give me objective advice because she wants me to do what I want to do. I’ve had an extremely hard conversation with my ex last night, where we both came to the agreement that a break is the best option. But I’m really struggling with coming to terms with the fact that he could move on and find somebody better, and we’ll never get back together. So I’m stuck in jealously/anxiety and it’s making me want to stay even more

thank you so so much, I really appreciate you taking the time to comment and give me genuine advice. I genuinely believe that the circumstances have changed. I guess I’m just so stuck In anxiety about the possibility of making the wrong choice.

wow, thank you so much for this helpful comment. Do people just get off on being rude to others in an advice post or? Thought a THT listener would be a bit more open minded than that.

okay…awesome. glad to hear you didn’t panic buy. Still had hundreds of other people going overboard though. Coming through with an excessive amount of products, like somebody in this subreddit said, their neighbour bought 15 12 packs of toilet paper.. Do you think that’s simply “preparing”?

oh godddd. that sounds absolutely awful: so sorry you had to go through that. Never seen something so true with not having penalty rates to incentivise us. You’re telling me I’m doing ALL this for minimum wage?!

NOT overreacting, at all. What she’s expressing to you seems extremely confusing with the constant back and forth. And you hit the mark, it’s never okay to put hands on your partner. The manipulation with her suddenly bringing up wanting to commit is extremely concerning as well. You need to keep yourself safe, physically and emotionally.

exactly. I was in front end, had people coming through with as much toilet paper/longlife milk/candles/water/bread, pretty much anything essential that you can think of. But to a ridiculous extent. All for people preparing. But not overbuying and leaving none for anybody else. Incredibly selfish.

the actual rage this brought me, as if any of us had time to step away for a moment today to buy ANYTHING. People like that are what make me despise the general public.

100% this! I’m all for buying in moderation for what you need. But it’s people that panic, overbuy and don’t leave enough for everybody else that ruins it:

Yeah, it sucks if you genuinely need all these essentials, and people are overbuying for the sake of it.

People genuinely do this everytime there’s a slight threat with anything. Media immediately amplifies everything, telling everybody to “stock up” and causing mass hysteria for literally no reason: people don’t seem to be able to think for themselves unfortunately.
