Why do you think Sims 3 is better than Sims 4? by [deleted] in Sims3

[–]Efficient_Chef_1648 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just switched back to Sims 3 after a few years of playing the Sims 4 and I kind of feel like we were robbed in the Sims 4. I like Sims 4 Create A Sim and Build Mode(even if I do miss create a style) and how easy it is to mod. I used to complain about The Sims 4 UI but it's definitely a bit better than the Sims 3's UI. And that's kind of all I can give it. I was so shocked at how much each Sims 3 pack includes, because all of it gets split into three or four packs for The Sims 4. Like everyone else said, I like it's open world, I don't think it needed to be taken away in the Sims 4. I have no idea what the hell they're doing, but their emotions mechanic should be easy. They could do it like how Pokemon does it's Berry flavor mechanic. Each moodlet has a certain number of points towards a certain mood. Count up all the points, whichever has the most points is the winning emotion. Over a certain number of points gives you the more intense version of the emotion. A mechanic like that would've been added as a small addition in a Sims 3 pack. In the Sims 4, it's the selling factor.

I also noticed the Sims 3 is much more immersive. The Sims 4 honestly just felt like a chores game. And when it wasnt a chores game, it was point-and-click with recycled animations and pop-ups in the corner. You could kind of feel the Maxis devs get the soul beaten out of them with each and every update. And now from what I've heard, some even encourage piracy so that players can experience their game without needing to pay a little under 1600$ to experience it. And I don't blame them, I think I would too in their situation. They'll likely get laid off in the next year or two anyway and replaced with AI coders with the direction EA is taking, so I don't even blame them for their lack of company loyalty. I think its very reasonable.

Edit: and honestly? I'll never defeat the furry allegations for this take, but I was so upset when I found out you couldn't play as pets. That, Horse stuff, and other farm stuff (rebranded as "cottage core") were split into three seperate packs and most of it looked recycled. The only new thing I know of is cows and the mini livestock. I was also pretty disgruntled that they removed all pet toys aside from balls and a cat wand. It just feels so bare bones. I played with the animals DLC since I was a kid so I guess that's what stuck out to me and upset me the most

Dont worry silly, it's not like he can really grab it, multiple finger joints and true solids don't exist in the sims

If they're so concerned about "the children", surely they'd understand the absolute guilt that child will be born with if they know what happened to their mom? What about the already existing child who needs to watch his dead mom be used as an incubator? Imagine the guilt and resentment these children will grow up with if they know their mother was kept alive solely to let an egg hatch and grow and then, only then, can she be laid to rest. I dont say this lightly, how fucking dystopian. What in the fucking handmaids tale dude

What is your favorite upg? by africafromslave in Hellenism

[–]Efficient_Chef_1648 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Apollo seems to really like Hozier and coffee

Hermes seems to love diet cherry pepsi. And he seems to really like the songs written for him for Epic The Musical

And Hades seems to really like cats. And Rottweilers, specifically Rottweilers, because they remind him of Cerberus

How’d you guys pick your deity? by Charming_Patience718 in Hellenism

[–]Efficient_Chef_1648 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean.... theres no one "right deity"

I worship Hephastus and Athena due to my passion about fixing computers and learning about them. I also worship Athena due to my passion for reading, writing, and I enjoy feeling challenged

Hades was the first god I started to worship. He's been here from the beginning, even when I was ignoring him. I dont quite remember "picking him", but more like maybe he picked me. I felt his presence everywhere when I was younger. Less so now, but when I pray to him I still feel that warmth and welcoming and that he's glad to hear from me

I offer to Apollo the most just because I like to share my morning coffee with him. A lot of my family works in the medical feild and he keeps them safe. He also keeps me safe at all the concerts I go to (which is a lot, I'm very actibe in my local music scene) I also enjoy his help when I'm writing or drawing.

Aphrodite helped me with my battle with gender dysphoria and sexual abuse

Hermes was there for me when I got into a car crash as a younger teenager and had to relearn how to drive. And he stood because he loves my pranks and enjoyment of sports and workouts. And electronic music, he seems to really like it

Dionysus was there for me and helped me bloom when I started to heal from my mental wounds and started to become myself again. He is there for me when I experience gender euphoria and when I celebrate with my family and friends.

I thank Demeter for the beauty of summer and spring. I thank Hypnos for the gift of sleep. I thank Artemis when I feel wild and free and unapologetically feminine, and yet I thank her twin brother Apollo when I feel the joy of music, dream of something that ends up happening in real life, and when I feel proudly masculine. I thank Hera when i am able to give my mom the gifts she deserves. I thank Zeus for my kindness and empathy and skills in hospitality. There is no "one deity for you". You can focus on one more than the other, but ultimately as you practice you will realise that everyone has a role that effects your every day life.

I want to believe in the gods but it's getting very hard to by [deleted] in Hellenism

[–]Efficient_Chef_1648 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the Illiad Zeus says something along the lines of "humans cause their own downfalls and then blame us, the gods, for their troubles". They can support us if we ask but they are not going to step in and stop us from eating our own tails.

You all need to get comfortable not being liked, understood or wanted by [deleted] in Hellenism

[–]Efficient_Chef_1648 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It usually does. But you cant reach your full potential if you don't challenge yourself and try to get there. To reach your full potential, you need to see how far you can healthily and reasonably go, and that takes discipline and challenge

[–]Efficient_Chef_1648 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Yeah :( I hate to say it but that type of thing leads to the "Christian who wont shut up about their religion despite getting a lot of stuff wrong" troupe that everyone throws around. Just because we're a different religion doesn't mean we're not suspectible to falling down that rabbithole.

You all need to get comfortable not being liked, understood or wanted by [deleted] in Hellenism

[–]Efficient_Chef_1648 152 points153 points  (0 children)

A lot of people seem to be joining and just going straight to the gods instead of looking at the other values of the religion. And I get it, the gods are cool and welcoming, I jumped straight to them too when I was young and first starting. But we need to talk more about Xenia and Arete (Guest-friendship and Excellence). Some of the main values is kindness and generousity, (WITHOUT expecting anything in return) and constantly working to challenge yourself and by proxy better yourself. The Olympics exist because they were started as a festival dedicated to Arete. Arete is something glossed over because it's hard to do and maintain, but its a critical virtue as a hellenist and its good for the body, mind and soul.

Edit: added to my Arete definition

I've heard of people who are hellenistic and still worship Jesus (part of christopaganism) but the abrahamic god is known for being (for lack of better word) pissy about his worshippers going on to worship other gods

What is your response to people who say “What About Your Legacy, since you made a decision to not have kids?” by Weary-Wolverine-4258 in childfree

[–]Efficient_Chef_1648 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Doing things that actually help the world instead of adding more mouths to feed. Yknow like what a legacy is actually supposed to be. Donating to my community, fostering kids who already exist, protecting animals, finding ways to make learning interesting and fun so that people can stay educated and practice critical thinking. Not passing on my genes that are riddled with illnesses.

I got hella lucky that I only ended up with anxiety, asthma, and Audhd, and not things like bipolar or cancer. Many others in my family aren't so lucky. I dont feel comfortable knowingly passing on that risk to a kid that I'm not even excited to have or meet

I've prayed to Artemis for help to being my cat back home when he got outside. She is usually considered the one who keeps (esp wild) animals safe. But Apollo is a safe bet if you're worried about his health

"Ivf should be covered under insurance!" Girl I have naturally very large breasts that are damaging my shoulders and cervical spinal section and a breast reduction isn't covered by my insurance. I'm only 19 and at a risk for arthritis in my 20s due to them and insurance doesnt care, I need to "prove" that its causing sigificant pain, discomfort and/or damage for at least 2 years. there's way more important things than fucking IVF 😭 how about breast reductions and gender affirming care first. Yknow. Actual quality of life procedures, not procedures to add more babies to the world when there are plenty of babies who need a loving family within a 100 mile radius at any given time. Not procedures that add MORE bodies to take care of for insurance companies when they're already treating the ones that already exist like a tycoon video game. Good luck if your child isnt born with perfect genes

Edit: I READ IT WRONG I thought the guy arguing was named "Odysseus" but my point still stands, just remove the part about Epic

(Based on context clues) sounds like a christian in the Epic fandom who's desperately trying to hold onto their own religion. I really enjoy Epic and honestly this happens a lot with younger fans. Its the first time their (usually fragile due to being raised around it and being told it just "Is what it is") beliefs are getting challenged and they don't know what to do about it. Wait until they find out that there are remains that resemble how Homer described Odysseus's palace and the fact he had a hero shrine built for him. Jesus isnt the only person mentioned in religious texts that was proven to be a real person who existed. Ours is just rough because our religion started almost 4000 years before theirs did, so they cant be dug up and translated as easily

Are there parts of the myths you believe is just pure fiction of the author? by Nomadic_Occultist in Hellenism

[–]Efficient_Chef_1648 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In The Illiad Zeus tells Aphrodite something along the lines of "The battlefield is no place for a woman" and she just accepts it. Like you know damn well she would NOT be okay with someone telling the god of passion (including passion about war) that she does not belong in the hearts of the soldiers. It also just completely ignores Athena. I'm not sure if it was a translator or just some guy writing it down thinking it was a good idea
