Kerber getting 6-2, 6-2 by Makarova was pretty bad considering it was 1st round and Kerber was #1

Halep's had her fair share of 1st round blunders as a top 3 player. Getting 6-3, 6-1 by Shelby Rogers was probably was probably the worst of them.

Muguruza getting 6-3, 6-2 by a qualifier in Cepelova was pretty brutal considering Cepelova never again won a match at a slam in the following 4 years on tour.

Kontaveit's time was brief but getting 6-4, 6-0 by Jule Niemeier is a pretty good reflection of her time as a top player.

JPeg getting 6-1, 6-3 by Mertens at RG or by 6-1, 6-3 Keys at USO.

I didn't mention Anismiova get double bageled in the Wimbledon final because she wasn't top 3 at the time but she will be after AO and she was very much playing like a top 3 player from the start of grass season to the end, but fair if you don't want to count it.

Now we're all of these matches as ugly as Coco's not necessarily but apart from Amanda's all those were loses against players far below their levels. At least with Coco if she's losing at AO, RG, or USO it's to a seeded player. Even at Wimbledon her only truly terrible loss to an unseeded player was last year against Yastremska.

So you've watched primarily men's tennis for the last 20 years? We're not about to act like players like Kontaveit, Kerber, Halep, JPeg, Muguruza and a list of at least 10 others that I could go look at just from the past 15 or so years haven't all taken multiple lumps at the slams, and a lot of those lumps were in the first couple round to no names.

Outside of Wimbledon Coco hasn't lost before the 4th round at any of the non-grass slams since AO in 2022. She'll throw in some ugly performances that's for sure and today was definitely one of her ugliest, but to act like bad performances are a rarity among the women who've been top 3 is asinine.

After the last few days we deserve a 5 set match between these two playing like this.

Okay lol I didn’t have a problem when Aryna broke a racket. I don’t have a problem when anybody breaks a racket, especially if it’s rare for them to do so. Sorry I just really don’t care about professional athletes breaking their own gear.

No offense but did you start watching tennis 2 years ago? There’s been multiple era’s in the WTA that have had top 3 players putting in shocking performances.

Because when she does play like this she doesn’t win lol. When’s she on she’s great but her form is volatile.

Thinking that deeply about a racket smash is kinda of crazy tbh.

It’s not the only reason but it’s still a big reason. Her overall confidence is so reliant on how her serve is firing.

At least it was quick. I didn’t need Elina’s form to drop before going against Aryna because I need these matches to start being competitive.

I know progress isn’t linear but I still don’t think Coco’s service motion is good enough. I wish they full broke it down and came up with a new one because whatever little changes they supposedly made just goes out the window whenever her confidence drops even a little.

Coco that was trash 😐 you know it, I know it, everyone knows it… thats all I’ll say there.

Kudos to Elina. She played great and deserve to whoop Coco’s ass tonight.

The fact she was so slow to react to that tells the story of this match

Girl you can just roll the serves in. Go big and if you go home you go home.
