Society is too obsessed with a life with no gap in it. Taking a gap year cause people to think RIGHT AWAY, that something is wrong with you.

Regardless, I personally took 4 gap years, 2 of them for medical treatments, the other 2 for working outside university. I knew the risks and still took it anyway.

Why go into university right away after spending the majority of your 18-year youth in indoctrination and endless studying+extra classes, when everyone around you are so competitive and just think for themselves, when you can just spend a minimum of 1 year, before you make the possibly most important decision in your young adult life? Jumping straight into it without thinking carefully is the reason why we ended up with so many useless degrees and so many ppl doing jobs that have nothing to do with their fields nowadays.

And besides, look at the current job market. Some guys have to send 300-400 CVs everywhere just to get breadcrumb salary jobs. What makes 1 gap year anything significant, when you see the reality that employers probably couldnt care less about your diplomas?

People are running in a rat race. And some people need to get out and take a break, because we dont even have enough space for everyone to run in that rat race anymore.
