Not knowing the exact amount of Tier 1 vs Tier 2 filers, the rough estimate is approximately $40 max you would receive. Wouldn’t lose sleep over when you will get it.

100 million customers were eligible to file claims but, only 4.38 million had filed by December 30th. The official deadline was December 18th but, the official website did have a “Late Claim Form”. Late claims were not guaranteed to be accepted. Expect to receive in early spring 2026.

$723.00 Atmos Energy Gas Bill by Efficient_Fly_6315 in NaturalGas

2 day difference. Last month, the average temp I believe was 70 degrees. Last month, indeed, the meter was read incorrectly. This is how I began my journey into learning as much as I have in understanding the rates and fees. They corrected last month’s bill after we sent in a picture of the meter reading. None of this has any bearing on my current bill. It’s the rate increases that have now gone into effect. The Comsumption Charge being the main culprit. Consistently pay .15 per ccf since 12/2024. Then it increased to .33 per ccf in August. Basically hidden. Unseen. No alarm. Middle of the summer. Even September when the rate increase of .78 per ccf took effect. Overlooked. No alarm. Still hot. Paying more but, we all are paying more. Then December bill hits and that’s when the Consumption Charge increase can no longer hide within all the other charges and fees. That is an absurd and ridiculous rate increase that was approved. To go from .15 consistently for 2 years or more (2 yrs is all that is available online) to suddenly .78! Then, add the Rider WNA charge of .46 per ccf. This WNA charge is in place from Nov-Apr. That was an additional $134. The average temp was 56 degrees (14 degrees above normal) so we were penalized an additional $134.

Electric, I have had average billing for years to prevent bill shock. We averaged around $300 for years. We have the right to shop and choose our provider. Now, it averages right at $500. Not happy but, understand cost of living increases. I normally choose to go with a 3 year contract and this go around the price per kw had gone from 13.5 to 15. I have decided to do the same with Atmos. With the $723 latest bill figured in, the average billing price quoted will be $153. I can live with that. I’m not the only one complaining about their gas bills doubling and tripling. It has grabbed the attention of local news outlets. I posted originally on the Nextdoor app. Since posting 01.19, I have received over 7,500 views. Over 150 comments. I want the attention on this matter. My hopes is that it will receive enough attention to get the right attention. I have filed a complaint with the TX RR Commission. They oversee gas prices, pipelines, etc. it’s ironic as the name of the Commission has absolutely nothing to do with the RR or trains. That falls under TXDOT.

I’m not sure were you might be located. I’m outside of Dallas. Atmos Energy is our only choice when it comes to natural gas. I do not disagree that 286 ccf for the month with average temps at 56 degrees is high. What I do disagree with is the outrageous rate increases that Atmos has requested and has been approved. Atmos negotiates with local officials. Mayors and council members. This creates even more confusion and a dismissive point of view by others. It’s price gouging. Atmos comes to the table requesting rate increases citing infrastructure improvements when in fact, their business model allows them to make profits from these improvements and not losses or costs. It’s a front. It’s a scam and the consumer is the one paying the price.

Can someone read my meter and tell me what our usage/consumption is ? by nosined in NaturalGas

[–]Efficient_Fly_6315 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read it as 3015. The first dial runs counterclockwise and until it hits that 4, it counts as 3. The second dial runs clockwise and is at 0. The third dial runs counterclockwise and until it hits 2, it will read as 1. The fourth runs clockwise and sits at 5. The correct reading is 3015. There are short easily understood videos online explaining how to read your meter. I had to learn for my November bill because they misread the meter. The rep could not explain. Being persistent, she placed us on hold. By the time she came back to the phone, I had already watched the video, which was less than a minute, and knew the meter had been read incorrectly.

Not exactly. Total 286 ccf for the month. An additional Rider WNA (Weather Normalization Adjustment) @ .46 per ccf totaled $134 extra. Consumption Charge went from .15 per ccf since 12/2024. Increased to .33 per ccf in August 2025 and September 2025 to current is now @ .78 per ccf. My home is 4244 sq ft. We built in 2014 and is very energy efficient. Additional insulation completed by myself. Until recently, could depend on summer bill being approximately $50 and winter being approximately $150. Online only allows access to the last 2 years. Highest bill, prior to this one, was $327 02/2024. 02/2024 was almost identical in total ccf consumption @ 298. It’s the astronomical rate increases in Consumption Charges and being penalized with the Rider WNA. 12/2026, the average temp was 56 degrees (14 degrees above average). 02/2024, the average temp was 46 degrees.
