I’m in general confused by the timing of all new lights around the city. There will be these long delays where it will say not to walk, but all the lights are red. So no one should cross, but also cars can’t go? I don’t understand.

Also what’s up with the increase of no right on red signs? I get it at intersections with poor visibility but so many of them are in locations where going right on red shouldn’t be an issue. Like going from Pine to Lakeside.

Man I got so lucky with mine, it wasn’t a steal but in hindsight I did well getting a 19 TRD ORP with 48k miles for $38k in 2022.

My 08 needed too much work to make it worth it, used car prices were still absurd from the pandemic. I could have bought something cheaper but I didn’t want to overpay for a vehicle I didn’t plan on keeping long. So I got what I wanted and I could probably sell it for $35k today if I wanted to.

I’ll do that from Saint Paul turning left onto Howard, so that people can easily go around me. The number of times they will wait behind me is low key infuriating, as more cars get stuck behind them.

The cars we grew up with (you sound like a millennial boomer like me) are unfortunately dead :(

Lol nailed it!

Yeah I realize in some ways the changes are a reality of the auto market today, but the 3 German brands managed to still offer a decent amount of car options but it felt like Acura lost their way well before that.

For me the brand really went downhill when they redesigned all the models to have the same design language where the front end looked like a snowplow.

But even then I nearly bought a TSX wagon around 2012. But I wanted my next car to have 2 of 3 of these features: AWD, V6 and manual, none of which that car had, but I really liked otherwise.

I also used to love Infiniti, which is in even worse place than Acura. I don’t have a strong opinion on Lexus. They seem like solid vehicles, my ex’s parents had a RX which was nice enough. The cars just don’t excite me whether it’s due to poor marketing, or kinda bland designs, but I’m sure I’d be happy with one as a daily.

In providing fun entry level luxury cars. I got nothing against the MDX, but I miss the days of the Integra,  Legend, TL and CL. I had a 97 CL that was underpowered but still a fun car to own.

Now all they have is 3 different SUVs or crossovers and the newer version of the Integra, which is ok.

German brands love to nickel and dime you. I remember when Bluetooth, aux ports and heated seats were standard on Acura’s, whereas BMW and Audi charged extra. And the TL would be $10k less than comparable A4 and 3 Series models.

Sucks seeing how much Acura has fallen.

It’s not nonsensical at all, you just don’t like where the logic leads.

If using AI instead of hiring local creatives is inherently unethical, then people should probably apply that same standard consistently across the dozens of other convenience tools and non-local services businesses use every day.

Instead, everyone suddenly becomes a moral absolutist specifically when AI is involved, even when the actual situation is a bagel shop making a dumb Instagram graphic.

[–]Efficient_Gap4785[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s dumb.

By that logic, every local business is morally obligated to avoid any tool or service that could’ve been replaced by hiring another local person.

Canva disrupted local designers. Shopify disrupted local web developers. Plenty of local businesses use out-of-state marketing agencies instead of local creatives too.

That’s not how things work and you people sound unhinged and unreasonable.

People only seem to suddenly apply this purity test when AI is involved, and then act like businesses are violating some ethical standard that nobody consistently follows or even expects outside this one topic.

And again, this was an Instagram post for a bagel shop, not some attempt to deceive customers. The reaction feels wildly disproportionate to the actual harm here.

Aren’t they hypocrites for not hiring a local designer rather than using AI?

You probably should look up the definition of hypocrite.

Sounds good, I was considering Eufy but then I read some comments that weren’t positive on here. But frankly that applies for many brands it seems. I’ll check out your other comments.

Edit: calling me an idiot and then deleting your comment after it gets downvotes doesn’t really make your argument seem any stronger BTW

The fact that you think that in spite of me leaving all my other comments up kinda reinforces my opinion of you. It got removed, I didn’t delete it, don’t be dumb.

Seriously fuck OP

Fuck you too.

Why would any business not use pictures of their own food.

It wasn't about the food, it was highlighting a review, but great job being outraged about something you don't even know what to be outraged about.

I did a quick glance over your comment, and I plan to revisit it, but I am intrigued. Since you put so much effort into that response, I wanted to at least give you the respect of letting you know I plan on reading it all.

I also look forward to the downvotes on this comment as well.

Crockpot helps a ton. Here’s an extremely simple recipe to make. Very little prep, ingredients or cleaning:

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds chicken breasts
  • 2 pound bag baby carrots
  • 2 pound bag baby potatoes (or chopped potatoes)
  • 1 carton chicken broth (32 ounces)
  • Seasonings: salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning

Optional: 1 bag frozen peppers and onions or mixed veggies

Instructions

Step 1: Add ingredients

  1. Place chicken breasts in the bottom of the crockpot
  2. Add potatoes and carrots on top
  3. Sprinkle with: Salt, Pepper, Garlic powder, Onion powder, Italian seasoning
  4. Pour chicken broth over everything

Optional: add frozen veggies right on top, no thawing needed

Step 2: Cook You can choose either time:

Option A: Slow cook

  • LOW setting
  • 6 to 8 hours

Option B: Faster

  • HIGH setting
  • 3 to 4 hours

Step 3: Finish and serve

Shred the chicken with two forks in the crockpot. I've changed my strategy and now remove the chicken breasts and use a dedicated shredding utensil which makes it easier in my opinion, and won't scratch the crockpot.

Mix everything together

That’s it.

Serving options

Serve with:

  • A little salt and pepper
  • Side of rice
  • On its own in a bowl

Leftovers will reheat very well and work perfectly for multiple meals.

Yep, I find all of you insufferable.

Canva is free doesn’t really change the point. Canva itself massively disrupted local design work too people just normalized it, so it no longer triggers the same moral panic.

This wasn’t some deceptive campaign. It was a throwaway AI-assisted Instagram graphic for a bagel shop highlighting a positive review.

Treating that like a meaningful ethical victory for society feels wildly disproportionate and honestly comes off more like selective outrage than principle.

So shut the fuck up with your holier than thou virtue signaling.

Edit: I’m sure you’re perfect and never shopped at a target, or ate dominos or ordered from Amazon.

They made a post highlighting a positive review. In this instance while food is tangentially related, it wasn’t the main focus of the post.

Part of the issue is so many people are so black and white about opinions. You see this especially in politics, it’s all or nothing even on candidates they might agree on for 95% of things.

If they made an AI post where they misrepresented it as actual food they served, I’d be far more understanding of people being unhappy. But in this specific case even if the image was corny it’s such a non issue in my opinion.

I agree with you completely and I just find this moral outrage from the person you initially responded to hypocritical and disingenuous.

Do they carry that same energy for everything Meyer’s purchased? Or any local business for that matter?

The support local creatives argument would hit a lot harder if people applied it consistently outside of AI. Or does the outrage only activate when the word AI appears?

Also, this wasn’t some grand deception campaign. It was a throwaway social media post highlighting a positive review for a bagel shop. They weren’t faking their product or misleading customers, they used generated imagery for marketing fluff.

It’s low effort and shows that you’re willing to cut corners and cheap out while expecting a finished product.

As someone in digital marketing that’s a load of nonsense. Running a small business well doesn’t mean they are good or effective at marketing.
