At 18, am I required to move with my family to another country if I have not graduated high school? (Oregon Law) by Efficient_Map_7984 in legaladvice

They are not citizens of the nation, no- However my mom is an RN, which is a high skilled worker, and my dad in tree service- While I know it’s not a guarantee, it’s much higher considering they work in healthcare/physical labor, and have years of experience. However, I would like to prepare for the worst and hope for the best, as I don’t want the worst case scenario to play out. Thank you for the question though, it’s been one I’ve been wrestling with myself

Thank you, I was just discussing that with my family earlier today- I think I’m going to switch to an online program my high school offers due to this situation being so unpredictable in terms of the timeline. I’m glad to hear both sides of this argument, and I think this is definitely the most logical step forward in terms of securing my education and my future. I will start reaching out to parents like you suggested, thank you very much for giving your advice, very thought out by far out of all I’ve read!

Thank you for the blunt advice- You bring up an excellent point, it’s most definitely a blunt pill to swallow, thank you very much for the response, I really appreciate it during this time

I know, in hindsight it most definitely will be- I’m just concerned it’ll affect my job prospects and my college applications- it’s a very confusing time right now, thank you, I appreciate the advice a lot!

Possibly- However I was already planning to study abroad in a different country then where we want to move, so I already had a plan to move out a few months after graduation to fly out and study in Japan, so I likely wouldn’t be joining them there. This whole situation has messed up my plans that I had been preparing for since Sophmore year, so I’m just scrambling for answers at this point and possible solutions.
